I don't drink milk and don't want to add cow's milk or soy milk to my 2 year old's diet. However, I would like him to have something warm to drink at night. Anybody know of any non-caffeinated beverage I could use?

All kinds of nice things!

Rice milk is great, and if you find it too expensive to buy, you can make your own. You can make hot chocolate, non-caffeinated chai, or just warm the rice milk with a little vanilla in it.

There are many great herbal teas that can be very nice for little ones in the evening. My children's favorite has always been some combination of chamomile, mint, and sometimes hibiscus. These are all nutritious and the chamomile can be very soothing.

One of my daughters really liked Caffix-which is a powdered drink that is supposed to be a coffee substitute, completely non-caffeinated and dairy free.

Enjoy!

You can warm any kind of juice. My 4 yr old loves apple juice warmed up. She also drinks her orange juice warm, unless it's early morning. Be sure to avoid any form of chocolate. It has the same effect as caffeine. Apple cider is good warm too. You can also do warm water with lemon or lime juice.

Warm apple juice, perhaps? You can dilute juice quite a bit and still have a sweet taste, if sugar is a concern. My husband likes decaf tea with a little stevia or honey.

Colleen--don't worry about the calcium. My sis is allergic to casein, the protein in milk. She gets her calcium from many sources, including fish, vegetables and supplements.

Apple juice has a lot of sugar in it so I don't think I would go with that. Maybe you could find some type of apple cider mix that is sugar free. They should make something like that since there is so many diabetic people out there. here is a link to some sugar free apple cider. Maybe even so warm caffine free tea.

How about warm apple juice? Pretty yummy, like hot cider. You can warm it just a bit in a sippy or cup, maybe put in a dash of cinnamon...
