You are right to be suspicious. Real 'psychics' rarely make a living out of what they know. They also don't need you to tell them what you think is happening. I will tell you this, the guy in question isn't the one for you. You will meet the right man in due time, never fear, but it will not be this one. I hope that answers both your questions.

There are many different types of "psychics", and psychic experiences.
Personally, I experienced one of these just yesterday, when a friend sent me a message. This time, there was someone around to view the exchange. She told my friend that she sent me a message, I knew exactly what she wanted, and retrieved an object from another room. There was nothing strange about this, and both of us have had such experiences throughout our lives.
As far as the county-fair sort of psychics, that's mostly hocus. The booth where a person guesses your age within say 4 years... most people can do that sort of thing with a little experience.
Then there are the telephone psychics; that too can be done by anyone with a bit of intuition. If a person asks you a direct question, they've already told you a great deal. "Will I ever find a man who truly loves me?" means that this person is lonely, that they've been unlucky in love, perhaps a number of times, in the past. It means they haven't given up hope in finding someone. It means that they are open to the possibility of finding someone.
A "Psychic" would take this and offer something like "I see you finding that specific someone, but you need to change the way you are looking. You need to start going to different places and trying new things. Start doing something new that interests you. You'll soon find the love of your life.
That's really short. the Psychic might inquire discretely what sorts of places the "client" hangs out in. They won't ask direct questions, but they'll engage in a bit of "fishing". Small tidbits can yield a great deal of information.
There are people who have definite psychic powers, but I haven't met any who do so for financial gain. All of my own experiences have just sort of "happened". I'll know when I might need an unexpected object when going somewhere... sometimes I'll just get a feeling, and grab a first-aid or extension cord or something when leaving home. I'll wind up with need of this item where I'm going. It's real, but not something I can see myself making money with.
Intuition is a bit better. I seem to have a way of being able to come up with the right ritual or advice when a person asks me for it. Still, this isn't a skill I'll ever consider making money with... that's simply not the way this sort of thing works... at least for me.

If it is a true or false question I think that psychics are correct 50% or the time.
If she is a good psychic she will have some in depth knowledge of human nature. Often giving advice is nothing more than knowing what most people will do in a given situation. As for the psychic part, I do not put much store in it but since I am not 100% certain it is bunk 100% or the time, I cannot say.

There's no such thing as a psychic. All you paid for was advice. Sure, that might be the reason. Or maybe not. But although it sounds like good advice to me, she didn't actually know.

Well, you can take it on board if you think it makes sense, but make sure you continue to make your own choices and live your own life, rather than living by what someone else says or predicts.
