It is a fictional story. The author is just glad that it is getting so much publicity.

There is a religious group that believes that the story about Jesus that the Catholic church, and actually most other Christian denominations, teach, is not entirely true. They believe that Jesus was actually married to Mary Magdaline and that they in fact had a child. They believe that this child was a girl and that the Holy Grail is not a cup, but is the womb of Mary Magdaline and they feel that it is their duty to protect the blood line of Jesus.

Where the painting of the Last Supper, that was painted by Di Vinci, comes into this, is that some say that Mary Magdaline is in that painting and that the space between Jesus and Mary Magdaline in the painting is in the shape of an upside down triangle, representing the "Holy Grail".

Personally, I don't know if there is any truth to it or not. I don't feel that if it was true, then it would really change anything about what Christians believe. They would still believe Jesus is the son of God, and so what if he had gotten married and had a child with his wife. I would still accept him no matter if that were the case or not.

It is a murder mystery; a work of fiction, and rather fun, from that point of view, but you'd never know that from the opinions of its fans.
The controversy about the book revolves around an old story that Jesus and Mary Magdalene were married, and that after Jesus' death Mary moved to what is now France with the baby, and that Jesus' child was actually the source of French royalty. A nice theory for the French royalty. The book is based on an actual conspiracy theory, saying that the Catholic Church covered up the truth about Jesus' bloodline, but da Vinci knew about it and left clues in his paintings.

I did not read the book, but did watch the movie. It is a FICTION story about what if Jesus had married and had children and those children (or child in the movie) survived down to this day. The story is a search for this person, which seems kind of far fetched that after 2000 years there would only be one survivor, but like I say it is fiction. They find out who it is through codes that were found in paintings. The story is the search and in the end they find the woman who is supposed to be the descendant of Christ. I found it pretty silly to be really believeable.

It is FICTION about what would happen if Jesus and Mary Magdalen married and had a child. The only thing to do with Da Vinci is that he was part of a "secret society" that knew about this cover-up by the Catholic church and painted clues in his works of art.

Basically... That there is an alternate truth to what the Catholic church has been teaching. A select few people throughout history have kept this secret... including Da Vinci... who reveals tips in his famous painting of the last supper.

Good book... I haven't seen the movie

It's a new cereal from the makers of Captain Crunch. You have to find all the magic marshmallows in the bowl and connect them before the oat ceral gets soggy, or the code is ruined and the ceral blows up. You should buy a box. It's great morning fun.

It's not exactly a painting. The premise of the story is that Jesus actually had children and the Catholic Church has covered it up.
