No. That's ridiculous. As one other respondent noted, there simply is no such thing as a sex or masturbation "addiction." People in this country are so overly interested in other people's sex lives (and others' business in general) and have such addiction fetishes (we like to associate sex with 'naughty' things) that 'sex addiction' has become a bizarre urban legend. Sure, you can lie around and masturbate all weekend if you've got the time. It's likely that many of us do. Does it physically impair you or prevent you from getting to school and work like heroin or alcohol? No. Does it compel you to blow all your money in so you can't afford food, like gambling? No. A person does not have physical withdrawal from lack of sex like the heroin addict has withdrawal from lack of heroin or the alcoholic from no alcohol or the gambler from no gambling.

And usually masturbation is only attractive when you're lazing about the house or pining over some school crush, so go do some chores or homework or exercise or go to social events.

And, seriously, if constantly thinking about sex was all it took to diagnose an "addiction," then 90 percent of teenagers and 60 percent of adults could be considered sex addicts.

It is a problem only if it interferes with the quality of the person's life. If they are for example spending study time, or social time, masturbating instead of fulfilling their responsibilities, then it could be considered an addiction. And there is no age limit on when an addiction can begin.

Anyone can become obsessed with things that bring pleasure. Sex gives us a natural high and if some endorphins are good more would have to be better, right? As for addiction, I don't think that word fits precisely. It isn't quite like some drugs where there is a distinct physiological demand that sets up. Definitely one can develop an inordinate fondness for it, just as they can for cheesecake and chocolate.

It's possible for anybody to get addicted to something, at any age. I even heard of a little 6-year old girl who 'discovered her body' and whose father was distraught worrying about her, as well as trying to teach her what was appropriate (i.e. not touching oneself in public). So yes, it's possible.

You might want to check and see what you consider 'addiction', though- if she is living an otherwise healthy, normal life, and it doesn't interfere with her functioning, then I wouldn't call it an addiction.

Yes, and its normal. Lots of young girls masturbate alot, some more than others. I personally know a young lady who masturbates at least 4 times a day, and thats alot! So dont worry about it, just enjoy it.

i don't think it is an addiction, but it is a natural human process. we all want orgasms..anyone who doesn't probably needs the help! enjoy it and do it as often as you like... i started doing it when i was 12! and have been doing it 2-3 times a day ever since! i am now 32 and still love doing it..

Why not? Masturbation is very relaxing and is not harmful plus it is a lot of fun when alone and you need to scratch that certain itch.

At many cases, it's highly likely. I find it surprising that those who are "addicts" tend to not be too "put out". I think it's the idea of self-gratification that is more stimulating to the regulars.

As they all said, yes it is. Its a great stimuli and has very powerful chemicals released, called endorphins, you can get addicted to them.

Just keep busy and try to think of other things.

Addictions (when the other aspects in your life are affected by that attitude) happen at all ages.
