I believe I am a prophet.

To be precise, God has identified me as capable of sending messages to mankind, either to warn of future events or to be helpful in general. I am not God. I am not a saint. I sin sometimes. But this is my job. Sometimes doctors call this delusion because I do sometimes get manic during bipolar episodes and I am on meds. BUT that does not, per se, mean I also do not sometimes get guidance and speak to God. I also know that God would never tell me to harm others; I know that "whatever" I am communicating with is fully good moral, and powerful, and I can trust this process.

I did not choose to be a prophet. But I have to. I did not have a choice, it was ordered, as I view it. I take orders from God. Would not you?

I just started reading "The Prophets" by Abraham Heschel. Do you know of other works on the subject, in print or on the Web?

What is your view? Sometimes the responsibility is overwhelming.

Serious answers only, no kids please.

Well, a prophet is a modest, humble human being who doesn't feel at all as though he's fit to be a Prophet, but then when he reaches a certain age, God calls to him and tells him he's a Prophet. If you've had any Angel come to you (angels always come in the form of humans) and you've been given a certain message by that Angel (with the permission of God, of course), then you're a prophet. Allllll the Prophets that ever came were like this..... My religion teaches me that no more prophets will be coming (to name some, they were Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, John the Baptist, Moses, Jesus, Muhammad--- peace be upon them all).
Angel and revelation are the key things. Sometimes God would tell the Prophets in their dreams what to do, which sacrifices to make, etc.

I personally dont believe in modern day prophets. I dont feel there is a need for them any more, but the bible has a test of three things to tell a true prophet.
One of the ways is everything he says must come to pass so if your ever wrong your not a prophet. I supose you could have a spirtual gift though if you are a christian.
Here is one of many test to help you determine a spirtual gift
http://mintools.com/spiritual-gifts-test.htm
Again if your not a christian though its not a gift from the holy spirit!
The Bible never says to test a prophet by prayer, We are to compare the message with the teachings of the apostles.
Deuteronomy 13 warns that a prophet must teach correctly about God.Chapter 18 tells us the prophet's prophecies must come to pass.

Funny how the next days devotions topic covevered this
1 Corinthians 13:8-13
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
There are three ways you can interpurt this
*one that gifts will stop when you die
*that they will stop at the second coming
*that they already stopped because the cannon of the scriptures is already complete.

Talk to your p-doc about checking your litium or Depakote levels.

I'm Bipolar as well, and a former Christian. I know that I have a relationship with my own deities, but as far as having prophesey concerning others, I don't believe in that.

Some of us may have callings to help others, but actually speaking to an entire people FOR GOD, is more a sign of a manic episode starting.

Sorry for not being more positive here.

Sometimes wish fulfillment is overwhelming. Stop, and wait a while. A month or two. My great-uncle used to come to my families home at 2 in the morning pounding on my parents bedroom door saying God sent him to save their souls! I'm sorry, but seeing that just does something. I think God could have waited another 4 hours until breakfast, don't you? In other words, don't take yourself too seriously. God doesn't, and yes, He does have the original sense of humor. Worry instead about enjoying life and what God gave you. Your wisdom, knowledge and things of this nature.

Start a journal and do introspective things. Take lots of notes to see where it takes you and consider your words at a later date, so you can see how you've grown spiritually! Otherwise, where will your spiritual comparison come from? How will you know if you've grown spiritually?

Good luck!

True prophets of God (not in this day by the way) do not get maniac during bipolar episodes nor are they on meds. You're not a prophet.

Matthew 7:15
Be on the watch for the false prophets that come to you in sheep's coverings but inside they are ravenous wolves

Mark 13:22
For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will give signs and wonders to lead astray if possible the chosen ones

I hope that answers your question..

This is the best way: take some anti-psychotic medicine. Do it for a few days. If later on you still feel that you are a prophet, then maybe you really are.
My guess is that you won't.

You have over a million dollars, since a prophet profits much.

odds are you are not.
the time of the prophets is over.
the end of the age is soon upon us.
only God knows for sure and He has not
chosen to share His thoughts on the matter with me yet.
so, be what you wish.
