Any suggestions on how to win my Community Christmas Decorating Contest? We try every year and always lose to the people who just throw anything in their yard. Im looking for something that will stand out.

My yard consist of one medium sized tree, about 8 yards from the tree to my porch, in front of the porch are 4 medium pine trees. Im not good with the decorating thing, but we do have icicles, the tree lighted up, a wreath above the garage (Pre light), a wreath in the door(pre lit), and more stuff.

Here in K.C., there is a house that is a "must" on any tour of Christmas lights. The man who owns the house has his entire home decorated with animatronics..

On his roof, there is a brightly painted Christmas village, sparsely lit. He does not rely on store bought Christmas lights to make his love for the holiday known.

His garage is a fully mechanized "Santa's Workshop" that is opened up for the public to view. His windows are filled every year with automated displays of varied and sundry holiday lore from Christmas Trains to The Grinch Who Stole Christmas.

This year he added a group of animated penguins in one window, and a life sized Santa placing a present under a tree in a display box he added to the front of his house.

He also leaves his front door open for people to see inside his living room, which is another holiday showcase. Dolls of angels and elves set playing with toys from years gone by.

Connected to the side of his home is a display in rememberance of the birth of Christ. It is an old, but complete, plastic Manger Scene Yard Lamps.

He has been building his display over the course of decades of hard work. In recent years, people have begun throwing money into the garage to help him create more wonder for the children who come faithfully each year to see his home.

His neighbors don't even bother to decorate their homes anymore...

If you really want to win this competition, try love, devotion, hard work and seeing the holiday through the eyes of a child.
