If it was only done once there would be no progress, nothing new. Everything evolves and changes. You are never going to see an infallible operating system, a perfect car, a perfect music player or a perfect operating system. Deal with it and move on.
Referring to the comment another poster made about Vista. I intend to wait a year, like I did with XP and every other OS before buying. Let somebody else deal with the worst of the bugs.

It's not possible, not only do all the parts of windows have to work together without conflict, you as the consumer expect all those parts, calculator, address book, notepad, pic, viewer, media player, and on and on. expect these to work with all the other software out there, and of course there are those who want to hack the programs and make them do things they were not intended to do. About the time your ready to release software, thousands of the other guys release their software and tell you it is perfectly compatible and ask Microsoft to verify. Good Luck, Get Real

Because if they waited until they got things right they would never release any products at all and people would have to resort to buying computers that work properly out of the box.

If your looking at the vista versions, to get the most out of them u need to buy the most high priced version they will be selling because the cheapest version "Home" will not contain the new all talked about areo view.
