You don't have to, but it would be nice and kind of classy. I agree with the beads, hats and noise makers but if it's not too big of a party, yes a little gift would be nice. Maybe baby bottles from a liquor store (not for at the party) or calendars....

People aren't bringing you presents like at a wedding or birthday party, so 'party favors' aren't necessary. You thank them for coming by having good food, drink, and entertainment available.

I'd only go as far as having little New Year's party favors like horns and hats. And I wouldn't buy enough for everyone. Just set them up on a table and let people grab em. Alcohol would also be a nice touch.
