both. the bible was made easy enough for a child to understand but far more complex than the brightests scholars to comprehend. It all dependes on your heart and your motives. If you are looking for God you will find him there. If you are looking for excuses not to believe you will find that as well. You can't discover the truth about the bible. But God does reveal himself to those who seek him. and all the truth comes with it. I challenge you to read through the book of John and try to immitate his life. and see what happens.

Its pretty easy to understand, at least in points of doctrine. The only hard part is translating the Greek writings of Paul, they are very advanced Greek and although some verses are easy to translate, others are extremely confusing. Right now I'm having problems translating Galatians 1:7 I think. I understand the English fine, but I'm having trouble translating the Greek into what the English says. Paul was a very intelligent guy.

Some parts of the Bible are easier to understand than others, but none of the Bible is hidden from any person. The Bible is God's Word to all people. I study it quite a bit. But there is never a time when I do not need the help of the Holy Spirit to help me to get the message that God is attempting to give me; or to help me to find the answer that I am looking for. We all need to learn to remember to always pray for God to help us, when we begin to read his Holy Word. God has revealed many things to me in his Holy Word, that I never expected to find. The only thing that will make the Bible hard for me, you, or anyone else, to understand, is to try to understand it with our own ability. God would not of given us his Holy Word, if He did not intend for us to be able to understand it.

Utuk is absolutely correct that, "The Bible is a document written by members of a specific community to members of that same community. If you do not have the background knowledge before hand, reading the Bible is like reading a complex letter exchanged between two total strangers."
The Bible made so much more sense to me after studying Judaism and especially Catholicism.

The Bible is the divine and inspired word of God to man. It is something we must not take lightly or try to use it in an incorrect way. God only reveals the truth to those who are seeking after him. You can find all the problems and falsify the Bible all you want. For example if you really wanted to you can find something wrong with this Yahoo! Answers web site... I know we can all find something wrong with our government. Those looking for trouble will most certainly find it. See the devil (adressed as the god of this world in the bible) has those who are not seeking after God blinded to the bible. I mean get real... the best person to talk with about a piece of literature is the author of it. God authored the bible so speak to him about what it means. If you are truly seeking him he will reveal it in due time. The theory of first recognition is a great theory speaking that in the scriptures the first time you see something in the word of God is when its in its purest form for the best reason. God has a time and a place for everything. Like said before a child can understand it when bible scholars cant. Its all about that child like attitude Jesus said we needed to have.

Depends in the mood I am, and if I pray before I read.
Sometimes when I read I get what appears to be a great divine translation for me. Other times it seems like I can't get done reading.
I prefer to read NKJV or KJV, I don't like some of the watered down aspects of other translations. However, do I have a hard time, generally no. But I always feel there maybe something that I am not getting, I feel that every word has a meaning and vast information to display, that maybe I am only receiving a little bit of it.

Most of the time, I find it pretty easy to understand. There are some days and some passages that aren't so easy. And then there are those wonderful times when a passage that I understood before takes on even deeper meaning. It seems to relate to how much focus I am able to maintain. I'm prone to worrying about my to-do list while trying to sit and be with God, which is not conducive to hearing from Him.

Parts of the Bible are quite easy to understand and other parts are a little more difficult! That is the reason, before I start to read, I ask the Holy Spirit to help me.

Actually, as one of Jehovah's Witnesses ones may say that we have no idea as to what the Bible teaches. However, the only way to prove I am write about that they teach would be for you to "test the inspired expression" for yourself.
"Beloved ones, do not believe every inspired expression, but test the inspired expressions to see whether they originate with God, because many false prophets have gone forth into the world."
-1 John 4:1
I will say it again, as I have several times in this forum. If you truly want to understand the truth from God's Word and pray for that understanding it won't be long until one of Jehovah's Witnesses knock on your door. Ask any question you can think of and they will open the Scriptures and answer it in harmony with God's Will and His inspired Word.
We realize that peoples situations change from day to day and week to week. Someone that may not be interesting in studying the Bible one day may have good reason to want to the next week.
"I returned to see under the sun that the swift do not have the race, nor the mighty ones the battle, nor do the wise also have the food, nor do the understanding ones also have the riches, nor do even those having knowledge have the favor; because time and unforeseen occurrence befall them all" - Ecclesiastes 9:11
Also, it is important, most important to understand that Jesus stated the there would be a "faithful slave" that would be tasked by God to feed people spiritually.........the truth.
"Who really is the faithful and discreet slave whom his master appointed over his domestics, to give them their food at the proper time? Happy is that slave if his master on arriving finds him doing so. Truly I say to YOU, He will appoint him over all his belongings." -Matthew 24:45-47
The responsibility is huge........all Jesus Kingdom Interests on this earth would be given to this faithful slave class. Not one person, but a group.........and they have done an excellent job in the face of much opposition.
thanks for the question!

It takes persistance and time.
Because God’s Word is His Spirit the Spirit of truth or the Holy Spirit. Not the printed text but God’s will, plan, thoughts, wisdom, knowledge, and His feelings the printed text conveys.
It's not a novel. There is many depths to it.
Yes there are mysteries hidden in it.
For example; the serpent seed, Katabole, naughty figs the Kenites, and etc.
