Invited a male co-worker to dinner to celebrate Xmas. I'm his assistant. We were there few minutes before 5pm, ordered, & we were done in 45 minutes! He ordered his food & dessert without asking me what I'm having. Date or platonic date I was so turned-off. Wasn't a gentleman at all. What's up with Russian men? I find him rude! My thoughts were, he wanted to get the dinner over with. He wanted to pay but I'll feel uncomfy if I let him, because I was the one who did the invite. According to him, he dined with other women before & he always pay. I told him, there's always the first time. I just needed to vent out.

I don't know if it is a Russian thing or the fact he was never taught any manners growing up or knows how to be a gentleman towards the ladies. There are a lot of men in this world who have this problem that spans the entire globe regardless of nationality or ethnic/cultural background. There are many men with Machevelian attitudes toward women. The guy you were with just happened to have them.

As for whether or not he should pay. Let him if he is feeling rich. LOL. It doesn't mean you have to sleep with him.

Actually ALL men are born without social skills. Social skills are learned over time.So if one guy doesn't know how to treat a lady doesnt mean you should judge the whole nation based on him. I am half Russian and most Russian guys I met are very well mannered. And whoever said that Russians dont cuddle or hug their children...LOL. Travel a little, see the world, then make judgements.

The younger males maybe, but that seems to be a problem with this Generation of males (Children of Baby Boomers), and the surprising thing is that as a fellow Baby Boomer, I was raised with good manners, and to always show respect towards woman, especially (but not exclusively) when out for dinner, i.e. put the woman's needs first at a dinner engagement (platonic or otherwise) hold her chair for her, take her coat open doors for her etc. It seems that my peers haven't kept up with that tradition, and I can't explain why. My son is 15 and I am trying to instill such values in him, so we'll see.

He was only one Russian man...
Maybe he just wasn't into you or something...
I don't know...
A loser like that isn't worth wondering about or stereotyping the entire Russian male population.

I do not think they are very caring, from the history I have read, they do not cuddle children like usa does..maybe they are brought to be cold...If you felt these vibes run, he will not change.
