I'm an African American woman, I have been growing my hair back since about April/May 2006 from about chin lenght, it is now about shoulder length. I would like to get my hair back to the way it was in middle school and high school before I began cutting it, which was about to the middle of my back. It's growing back, but it seems to be growing slow and it's thinner now, it was thicker then. Not super thick and nappy, I've always had a great grain of hair. Any suggestions? (all will help) Thanks Everyone In Advance.

Great is that it? Is this something you've done yourself?

Thank you LaDoris I got the website to work and the information sounds great. Have you read her book or used the products?

Why not try to grow your own hair out.
Try this website:

She has some great ideas that have worked for my granddaughter.

I wear my hair short so no I haven't read her book. My granddaughter has the book and she says that the information is most helpful. But the book is a 2nd edition and does not contain a formula for a conditioner that Cathy devised. My grandbaby says that the conditioner is the real key and she got it from a co-worker that had the 1st edition. Her hair is looking healthier and thicker then it has in a long time. She wore her hair short and started following Cathy's book almost a year ago. Now her hair is almost on her shoulder's.
Here is the formula for the conditioner if you want to try it for yourself. Be sure and rinse it out good.

Mix these ingredients together:
1 32 oz. bottle of protein conditioner (I use Mane & Tail)
6 oz coconut oil (you must liquify this in the microwave)
3 oz olive oil
.5-1 oz (personal preference) peppermint oil (must be real essential oil)

Since Cathy Howse came out with her own product line, we think she removed the formula from the 2nd edition.

Okay, I got you and actually am suceeding right now:

1. Eat well and add milti-vitamins to your regimine because it is a good way to attack the problem at the root
2. Use good products (Elastica QP Intense Fortyfying Treatment,
Panteene Pro-V Conditioner for Relaxed Hair, Aphogee Shampoo for Damaged Hair, and Parevenue Shampoo for Relaxed Hair, and Aphogee's Oil Sheen)
3. Moisture, Moisture, Moisture (do not be afraid to oil your hair with an essential oil like aloe vera oil, rosemary oil, joloba oil, ect... (great because they have protein in them which is the only thing that can be absorbed into the shaft and are great for hot oil treatments) or wash your hair at least once a week
4. Clean hair utensils (scarfs, brushes (boars brush only), combs everytime you wash your hair)
5. Use the curling iron and/or blow dryer once a week
6. Spread out your use of chemicals like dyes (eliminate if you perming or relaxing your hair because your are over processing it so try a rinse) . Retouch at the least 8-10 weeks or longer to 12 if you can
7. Knix the ponytails that are too tight; let hair air dry;stimulate with essentail oils (chamomile is a great hair highliter)
8. Stick to a few products (2 shampoos and 2 conditioner alternate) and get one clarifying shampoo for build-up (use once a month) as well as a dandruff shampoo (when needed)
9. Oil your ends so you do not have to cut them due to splitting (you should do this and cut maybe every three months or so maybe less depending on your hair's moisture) Again, Moisture!

Relax it takes time but you must start with eating the right foods it will eliminate lots of problems! It will work but hair grows half an inch a month so it will take a while but it must get healthy first.

hello, my daughter is 5yrs old and i have always wanted to know how i could get her hair to grow longer as well and since she is bi-racial i went to her auntie and asked her and she told me to put her hair in braides and keep a leave in conditioner in her hair that way it gets wayed down as well. I use Profectiv Mega Growth. You can get it at wal-mart or any hair place. It smells soooo good and i put it in her hair after her baths and her hair just lays so pretty when she gets up the next morning and i will coat her hair with it when i put her hair in braides. I love this stuff!!
You could also try PiNK, My girlfriend uses it on her sons hair and she says it really works but i dont like it as well as the Profectiv Mega Growth.

Hair loss affects both men and women. Here are some natural remedies that can help boost hair growth: https://bitly.im/aL9kn While genetics plays a role, there are other factors, including: hormonal imbalances, an underactive thyroid gland, nutrient deficiencies and insufficient scalp circulation.

Keeping your hair braided (cornrows) seems to grow your hair.
