A “bay leaf” is a “laurel leaf”. it's an aromatic spice that is an important ingredient of adobo and most tomato-based stews and other types of soups. Take it out before you eat. tastes kind of like old oregano with a punch.

It is another name for a bay leaf. I use them to add a bit of spice to soups, stews, sauces.

Culinary Cafe says they have a pungent, bitter taste. I haven't noticed the bitter part.

It's a Bay Leaf and I think it could be described as, "fragrant".
