I need to purchase a pair of twin beds for my new guest room. How do I choose? Should I try them out and pick what I prefer? Go with firmer in case of older guests? Or have one bed softer than the other? Can someone help??

The point is for them to be comfortable :-) Not looking to rush folks out lol If I don't want them long I just won't invite them!

It depends on what teh guests will be doing, if "active" you want a matress and springs that you won't hear them moving around all night, but having two different levels of firmness sounds the best, myself I think anyone can survive on a firmer mattress longer than a soft one.

I would go with a firm mattress if I were you. You could provide one of those "egg crate" foam toppers if a guest wanted it a bit more cushy. I have a foam mattress topper on one of the twin beds in my guest room. On the other, I have a feather-bed mattress topper. I bought it very inexpensively off the internet, but I don't remember where. Seems like it was one of those Ebay stores.

I can offer guests a choice of either the foam topper or the feather bed topper - or they could take them off if they didn't want either.

I wouldn't go with a super soft mattress if I were you. That can be as bad or worse than a rock-hard one.

i would buy something in the middle. that way, most of your guests will be comfortable. You know who the more finicky guests will be and those are usually the ones that bring their own things to make themselves more comfortable. if anyone was expecting to be rooming at a five star hotel with five star mattresses then they should go there instead.

I went with the newer air bed mattress. That way my guests can choose the firmness they like.

Think hotel.... high class hotel.... If you go to any mattress store, you won't find hotel mattresses on the showroom floor, but they can order them for you....

I LOVE hotel mattresses.... good hotels.... And that's what I buy when it's time to renew. And they are also made better than any normal mattresses so they last longer... which means your guests may never want to leave................careful who you invite =)

Get something in the middle.

If you know that one person will be a regular guest, ask what they like.
