My cat has been going through bouts of vomiting. As soon as he eats, it comes right back up. These bouts will last about a week, and he'll be fine for about two weeks. I started feeding him Purina Cat Chow for Sensitive Systems. He was fine for awhile but has started getting sick again. He is also having trouble keeping down wet food. I dont change his food, and his bowel movements do not have worms. Other than the vomiting, he still plays, and does the normal cat things. Any suggestions would be great!

if it is not the food, this could be a thyroid issue.. hypothyroidism is common in cats and will cause vomiting after eating, and the cat seems to always be hungry. We usually dont see much of it in young cats, but it is possible. This can be tested for with a blood sample from the cat that will then be sent to a lab to be evaluated. You get the results back in 3-5 business days.. itd be worth looking into, especially if the cat is starting to lose weight!

My cat has a somewhat similar issue and I took him to the vet. I was told to elevate the cat's food dish so that he doesn't have to bend down so far to eat. That might help.

If that doesn't stop the vomiting, he may very well be allergic to something in his food. A vet can test his blood to see if he might be allergic, and can supply a "hypoallergenic" cat food made from duck and potato - ingredients not normally found in cat foods, and therefore unlikely to be whatever he's allergic to! The bloodwork's cost isn't too much. Mine cost about $75, but I was doing a full run of tests for other illnesses as well.

The sensitive cat food was a good idea......but if it isn't working you should ask your vet. They have food that you can buy from them - not sold in a store. It is a little more expensive but it helped my cat when she was younger. Now she is able to eat less expensive food. Sometimes an older cat may need a special food for the rest of their life.

Please have your cat see a vet immediately!

I don't want to startle you, but I just lost a cat to lung cancer. Her symptoms were vomiting right after eating.
