No they don't, they have adoption events most Saturdays instead though, and if you ask in the store they usually have information about what dogs are available in the local shelters. A pet store is no place to buy a puppy. Either find a reputable breeder (not the first one you come across), or adopt. Don't 'go take a look' if you are not already well informed about the breeder. You'll fall in love and may be sucked into buying a poorly bred dog.

At my PetSmart they have dogs and cats that they bring in on the weekend from the Humane Society or the shelter or something.. In fact, the new kitten I got for Christmas, came from PetSmart. They have all kinds of cats and dogs there on the weekends, but on the weekends only, not during the week. Just keep going back every weekend until you see a pet you want to adopt.
However, some PetSmarts might not do this because the animals they have on the weekends come from the local shelter so not all stores will do this. If you're not sure about your local store, trying calling in and seeing or going there on the weekend (or at least, that's how mine is. They have the pets on the weekends).

Please do not get a puppy or a dog from a pet store cause they get their puppies from puppy mills and you dont want to support a puppy mill cause the living condions are so very nasty they never take their dogs to the vet and the dogs are over bred and live in such filth with their own poop and pee and are so nasty that they have to live in other puppies poop and pee cause of the other puppies live in cages on top of each other and defecate in the on top of the bottem cages,, the pups barely live a long life and if they do then you will end up paying a out ragious vet bills to keep it alive cause most of them have desieses, from inbreeding and other reasons,, so please find a reputable breeder or adopt a dog or puppy in a local shelter that needs a good home,, I hope this has helped,, but to answer your question no they dont sell dogs at petsmart or petco but they do have a adoption events for a local shelter or rescue on saturdays just call your local petco or petsmart and ask them when their adoption events are and i hope you find the right homeless puppy or reputable breeder and Happy New Year

Hi,
This is not a Stupid Question, if you do not know you need to ask.
No, Pet-Smart and Pet-co do not sell dogs or cats. But, PetSmart does have dogs and cats that have been brought in by Humane Societies and Rescue places. This Money that you pay goes right back to the Rescue places they come from. They do have all their shots and wormings as well as spayed/neutered.
Thank You for asking this question.

Some do and some don't but the best advice is to NOT buy a dog or cat from a pet store. There are many shelters and humane societies that have many dogs and cats that need good homes. I have never bought a pet from a pet store (except for fish & rodents when I was a kid). Every dog and cat I have ever had has come from a shelter or humane society or was a stray. They have all been wonderful family pets and great companions. Good Luck on your choice!

No they don't SELL them, but on Saturdays local humane societies and no kill shelters do hold an adoption day at PetSmart, they have all sorts of dogs, from small to large. That is where I got my Schmitty. Also if you are considering adopting a dog, please consider an older dog (and not just a young adult, a dog from 7 on up) or one who is partially blind. These dogs have a much harder time finding good loving homes.
Also the adoption fee is usually a lot less than if you flat out buy one. The humane society i got Schmitty from charged $175.00 and since they rely on donations to keep running, i donated $5.00.

Petco and petsmart hold adoptions for dogs, but they don't really "sell" dogs. So yes, they hold adoptions from pets on weekends..
If you're looking for a place where they sell dogs... like a store... THEN DON'T! Pet stores that sell dogs get their puppies from puppy mills, which is a place where they ignore the health of dogs, and overbreed them, then sell them to pet stores and get tons of money off it. They are sickly little puppies in pet stores that have probably diseases and inherited defects.
Get your dog from the local shelter, adoption, or a reputable breeder... Not from a pet store. You can also go to www.petfinder.com

They don't sell dogs there, but some of the shelters have some dogs there for adoption. Mostly on weekends. They sell dogs at petshops and from breeders, but the shelters are filled with nice dogs who need homes. There is a fee to adopt and papers to fill out since the shelter wants to be sure you are able to care for the dog.

No, petco and petsmart do not sell puppies or kittens. They do have area shelters come in and showcase various dogs & cats that are available for adoption. Do NOT buy a puppy from ANY pet store. These puppies do NOT come from responsible breeders.
Either look for a responsible breeder or go to a shelter/rescue.

No and you should NEVER buy a puppy from a pet store! Not only are their dogs over priced... they probably come from puppy mills and have terrible physical ailments from bad breeding! Puppy Mills only breed to make money. Their dogs are kept in horrible conditions and once they are past baby making ages they are taken out back and shot! Buying a puppy from pet stores only creates a demand for puppies! No respectable breeder would sell their puppies in a pet store because they want to make sure that they go to a good home, not a home that is willing to pay and THINKS that puppy is the kind of dog they want! Go to a shelter. petfinder.org is a great site that you can search local shelters and breed rescues! You can search by age, size, and breed!
PLEASE GO TO A SHELTER!
