I think maybe SOME might have a problem (not all) because worldly things interest them more.

As for me, I can't remember where I even parked my car when I get out of the supermarket, much less remember a "worldly" joke or whatever. I read the bible, but don't commit passages to memory, as much as I pray and try to learn what it is that I am supposed to learn, taking the knowledge into my heart.

Because the devil doesn't care how much useless stuff you fill your head with, but the Word of God is powerful sharper than any two edged sword and is called the sword of the Spirit. Satan wants to disarm us. Jesus tells us that the devil comes to take away the word of God like birds come to eat seeds that were sown by the wayside. We Christian need to treasure the Bible and value it, then it is better remembered and has power in our lives as we submit to Christ our Lord and Savior.

About the only trouble we have are thorns in our sides from people who think as you do. Do you know it only takes half the effort to make a friend as an enemy? I am not putting you down. God loves you and so do I.

People naturally have a sinful nature; we hate good things. It's only by the Holy Spirit that we can do good things and love God. That's why Christians are persecuted.
