No. It IS your body trying to fight off an infection, but high temps can cause organ damage. Take medication for this. Go see your MD right away. A fever means that you have an active infection process going on.

Best wishes. Hope you feel better.

Ps- I was reading someone's post. In the hospital, we treat fevers to be higher than 101....103 is too high. 101 or greater is the standard fever range.

If the fever goes about 103 then you should take something to bring it back down, however anything below 103 if you can tolerate the discomfort should be left alone. Fevers actually serve a good purpose and to stop them is sometimes detrimental.

No,you realy shouldn't it will make the fever higher you should apply an ice pack allover your head, face, arms, and neck before or during that your should either take a tylonel or drink some motrin. Then as soon as you can you should visit a doctor.By the way im only a kid but a very smart kid and i've had high fever before and this is how my parents lowered it.

It is ok to have a fever of 100 anything above 101 you should take something. Also think of this, if patients heal better and faster while not in pain don't you think that would apply to this situation too.

I read that a fever is your body's natural defense to fighting off infection. If you bring the fever down with drugs, then you just leave your body open to the infection and are sick longer. I was advised not to let the fever go over 104 and you do have to monitor it, but I would avoid drugs for it as much as possible.

Let your body try to fight it off with it's own abilities and hopefully you won't be sick as long!

Just search "fever" on Mercola.com and read it for yourself!

Hope you're feeling better!
