I've never used commercial rice cooker. Instead, I use a wok with a bamboo-steamer cover. I'm certain the rice cookers do the same job.
American rice is coated with nutrients and should not be rinsed.
It will wash away the nutrient coating.
Popular rice like Basmati or Jasmine should be rinsed until the water runs clear.
However much rice you use, add enough water to that the water level is 1/4 above the rice. Do not add salt.
It is the steam that causes the rice to cook and become fluffy, not boiling.
Cook the rice until is is fluffy and there are steam vent holes in it. There should be no water at the bottom.
Never stir the rice when it is cooking. Keep it covered.
Fluff it with chop sticks or a fork after it is done cooking.
Under-cooked rice will taste starchy. Over-cooked will be sticky.
For a real treat, try using Jasmine rice from Thailand. Most grocers carry it now. It has a lovely aroma and flavor. While restaurants serve American rice with their Asian dishes in America, Asian moms serve Jasmine rice to their families at home.

the rice cooker that we have has a small cup that we can use to measure the rice. then there is a measurement as well in the inside of the rice cooker. but if your rice cooker does not have that, the basic rule is that you use equal amount of rice and water. so for example you want to cook a cup of rice, you fill the cup then put it inside the rice cooker then fill it with water up to the line that shows 1. if there is no markings inside the rice cooker, just remember 1:1 ratio of rice and water.
there is a sort of a button that you push down to start the cooking. there will be a light that will indicate that cooking is starting. the button will go up automatically and the light will turn off itself when the rice is cooked.

How much you can cook at one time depends on the size of your rice cooker (they come in many different sizes).
In mine, I put in
1 cup of rice
2 cups of water for white rice or 2 1/2 cups of water for brown rice.
Put on the lid and turn on the switch. The rice cooker does all the work. Mine has a light that tells when it's done.
To steam vegetables while cooking rice, cut them up in bite size pieces and toss them in the steamer basket and put that in before you turn on the rice.

on the rice pot inside, there are lines that have numbers.
if you add 1 cup of uncooked rice, you add water to the line that has 1.
made sure you wash the rice before cooking it.
then close the lid and plug the plug.
then push the button for cook rice. Make sure you push it or else it wouldnt cook.
if you steam veggies, you can take a metal plate and put your veggies on it. then when ur rice are cooked and kept warm, then put a metal rack on top and put ur metal plate on top. then it will steam.,

Put your rice and water in and turn it on. Somehow it knows when it is ready. You do the same for vegetables, but use the steam basket that came with it.

wash the rice and put water to your middle finger first line, don;t put too much than that ,coz rice will be mashed if you put lots of water.
also i'm sure you have measuring lines in inside cooker pot,so you can manage the measurings, check the using guide, it might have recipes.
