For hundreds of years "christians" on one side of the fence have killed their fellow "christians" on the other side, and multitudes of others as well. They also pray to their "god" before they begin to fight and kill. That doesn't seem to follow that which was taught by the one they say they believe in.

Thats 100% correct. Jesus also proclaimed that son will turn against father and brother against brother, all in his name. If you want eternal life, however, you must love thy neighbor as thyself and love your enemies. He did mean it! people just do not adhere to it.

Once again your speaking without getting all the facts. Loving someone does not mean you have to like them or will not have disputes with them. If you would read the Bible you will find there cases where God actually ordered His people to go to war and you would find out that "thou shall not kill" doesn't apply to every situation that involves the taking of life. Christians have never claimed to hate anyone, it's non-christians that keep saying we do.

You are absolutely on the right track to call such people "Christians" who do not do what Christ teaches us to do. We were never taught to kill for Christ or in His Name. Those who do so are in violation of Biblical teachings. But that's the whole point, you can indict such believers because they have violated the teachings. It doesn't prove Christianity false, just that there are believers (so-called) who do not follow Christ's teachings.

The admonishment to love your enemies is not an invitation to sentimentality. It is a command not to hate them. That mean, you are not to wish an evil on them. You are not required to like them, just to not wish them any ill.
