any last minute ideas to reduce possible tax owed or would this be a waste of time?

IRA. You can do that up to April for 2006.

Its too late unless you have some health issue that you pay alot of out of cash expenses or donate a large amount of money by the end of the year. For next year make sure that you have enough taxes taken out (do that on your w4's) that way you wont owe anything. You can also have them take out more of your paycheck so you can get something back. Probably wont be a good idea since you're not making anything already. I say find a better paying job for 2007.

You shouldn't owe anything unless you paid rediculous amounts for some reason.
