I used to be able to run 2 miles and i would do it daily. years have passed and i can't even run a mile now. any ideas for how i can gradually work up to my old fitness level. A structured program that won't kill me would be nice!

yr just like my sister. what she did is started by exercise videos. then she'd run in place for 10 minutes stop and do something else for 1 or 2 minutes then do it again. she did that for like 3 days then started running a little bit at a time. 1 day it was 15 minutes, next it was 20 then 30 and so on. after adding on minutes each day, she'd have a goal to jog to the park and back. she'd also try racing with friends or jogging somewhere instead of taking the bus. make sure to streach be4 starting and if you feel like your legs are about to break off, slow down and walk. one thing that really helps besides having a goal is instead of just normal breathing, breath in twice and out twice, faster then regular breathing but not to fast

I would suggest a product from the garmin forerunner series. These are watch sized gps units that are designed for running. They track your distances speed and everything. You can input this data in the included software (website maybe) and it will give you suggestions on your workouts and help you improve your distance/times.

you should first start off running as long as you can then stop and then start again you will build up your endurance in time try to run a Lil bit more each day it's gonna hurt at first but just keep it going a Lil bit each day before you know it you will be back to your old self

Here is a free program called a Runner's Log. It may help you start out. I'm not sure what all it has in it, but saw it on download.com earlier.

You need a program to tell you how to run? OK...here...go outside... stretch... run.
Believe it or not it works.
