She is 4 yrs old and an Anatolian Shepherd. She is nice to everyone else in my family, I never harmed her either or took her food. She never severly bit me but she snapped at me alot and shows her teeth. I pet her nice and i give her food she just doesn't like me. Why? how can i reconcile with her?

You can try this, I have seen it work WONDERS.

Whatever food she eats should come from you - by hand. She needs to start seeing you not as someone to fear, but as someone who is a leader and a provider of all things good. Let her go at her own pace. If at first you have to toss her the kibbles, just sit on the floor and gently toss them over to her.

There are "Calming Signals" that dogs send out to other dogs to diffuse confrontational situations. A few simple ones; Don't approach her head on. Don't "stare her down." Pretend to yawn or chew or scratch your neck while looking away from her. I know it sounds silly - but these are things we do with dogs in our shelter who are afraid to come up to us.

There is more info on calming signals here.

I think she'll come around. It's obvious that you care about her and will be patient and work with her gently til she comes around.

Best of luck to you.

Is she getting "fear" vibes from you? She is acting very Alpha dog...like she is the one in control of the situation.

Take away her doggie power.

Personally, I would ignore her until SHE comes to you. In the meantime, I would eat in front of her, and have a good old time, talking & laughing with other family members...all the while... ignoring her presence.

Eventually she will want you to pay her attention. Make her beg!
When you do decide to give her attention, and if she snaps at you........YELL at her (NO! which will sound like a dog bark), and go back to treating her like she is invisible.

She will get it ...that you don't think of her as the Alpha dog.

I recently learned that dogs like us or don't like us based upon the way that we smell to them. I don't mean that you smell bad! Just that's how they decide to like or not to like. Do not allow her to growl at you. You are the leader of her not her the leader of you. So tell her "No" when she growls and make her get up and move away from where she is so that she doesn't stand her ground with you moving from her. That to her is her being the boss. So just stand up tall and walk toward her telling her to "Go" and "NO" until she moves away and stops growling. If you try this and she stands her ground and won't move for you, get someone in your family that she does mind and get them to help you do this with her until she learns that you are just as much a boss of the house as the other family members and if they see her growl at you they should scold her too. Everyone in the house needs to help you gain control of the situation. She doesn't have to like you, but she must respect you as a leader in the house. This will move her toward a place where she may learn to like you. But never allow a dog to behave this way it can be dangerous. Good luck.

Dogs can also sense ADHD! My dogs hate my one grandson because he is so hyper. YOU need to be calm also. :>) Try giving her treats she really likes each time your around. Even small bits of people food (if she likes it) like hot dog, etc. She needs to associate you with good things.

Try crying or fake crying in front of her. It is a good way to get to her softer side.

let her nip your hand or finger one time and act like it hurt. when i play around with my rottweiler, he will put my hand in his mouth and if I say "ouch" or something, he will start licking me and lay his ears back like he knows he did something bad.
