German "ökumenisch" means "ecumenical", the "-en" is a case ending.
"Startschuss" = "starting shot/starting signal' (as in racing)
"zur" is a contraction of the preposition "zu" (roughly equivalent to the English prepositions "to" or "toward") and the feminine definite article in the dative case ("der").

Actually, I only use the word "zur" if I go somewhere (of course the following word must be female) like "ich gehe zur Schule" or something. I think there is no other way of using...

zur is equivalent to "zu der" like im is equivalnt to "in dem" or ins = "in das"

I think okumenischen is "ecumenical". "Startschuss" dunno.
Zur is a contraction of "zu der", often "to the" with "der" being the dative feminine definite article.
So, Ich gehe zur arbeit. I go to work.
