He might. Hep C can damage your liver to the point of needing a transplant, even with treatment. But, there is hope that is can go into a remission sort of state. This won't mean he doesn't have the disease anymore. It just means that it will leave him alone for a little bit and bug him again when it feels like it.

Yes he should seek treatment. Get him to a doctor. I have two brother in laws that have it - ex drug users. It is transmitted through bodily fluids, sharing needles etc.

He must have seen somebody otherwise he wouldent know he has it!! AND YES IT IS VERY SERIOUS he needs to see somone like now!
