All categories

We have the seal guy and others jumping to the book of Leviticus to condem homosexuality, but the same Leviticus laws about not eating shrimp or pork are completely ignored because in that case we have the New Testament covennant and all of the Old Testament rules are thrown out because of it. Can you all stop flip flopping around and develop some integrity regarding what you preach? Thanks!

It has nothing to do with integrity. Dietary laws were implemented to keep Judaism separate from the Gentiles. Christianity accepts those under both the Mosaic and Noahic covenants, eliminating the need for dietary laws other than the prohibition against blood. This is taught in the New Testament, book of Acts. Prohibitions against homosexuality are reinforced in the New Testament, book of Romans. You honestly think that the most brilliant minds of Europe and the Middle East have not thought about these topics over the last 2000 years?

There's a difference between Leviticus laws about homosexuality, and Leviticus laws about eating shrimp.

The latter are superceded by new teachings in the New Testament.

But the former are not.

Old Testament laws about what to eat have been replaced by new ones in the New Testament.

But the New Testament does not replace the Old's teachings on homosexuality.

In fact, the NT backs up and reaffirms the OT's condemnations on homosexuality.

Follow the difference? I hope so.

This is what New Testament says about it:
1. Corinthians 6:9 "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,..."
Effeminate = a person that acts as a female in the homosexual intercourse
Abusers of themselves with mankind = a person that acts as male in the homosexual intercourse
And what is a solution?
1. Cor. 6:11
"And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God."
Beside that, there were 3 types of laws in the Old Testament: Moral law, Levitical law, and Civil law. First is intended for te whole world, the second for religious services in Israel back then and it's sanctuary, and third was made as the constitution of Israeli country until it got destroyed and taken over by Romans.
Also, there are health laws in OT which can not be undone by any way because our bodily constitution and laws that govern our health were not changed when Jesus died.

Because the New Testament says that the dietary laws no longer apply. No where in the New Testament does it say homosexuality is fine, but instead the New Testament still condemns sexual immorality.

We are not bound by the ways to cleanse sin that the Old Testament prescribes. The Old Testament says that, to atone for sin, you should wash your hands, sacrifice an animal, kill lawbreakers, etc, but none of those apply because they were never meant to be permanent. We are saved through Grace, and must repent and seek righteousness.

Afterall, what did Jesus say to the woman who committed adultery? He said "go and sin no more". We're not supposed to hate sinners, stone them, or hold up angry signs, we are supposed to pray that they turn from their wicked ways and seek righteousness. But if they do not want to turn from their wickedness, they can dig their own graves.

There are three types of laws in the Old Testament - civil, ceremonial, and moral. Civil laws were laws about daily living (i.e., regulations about lending and borrowing money). Ceremonial laws were laws about how to worship (i.e., how to perform sacrifices). Moral laws were the direct commands of God, revealing His nature and will (i.e., the Ten Commandments). The civil laws were specific to the society to which they were given, and the ceremonial laws helped to point forward to the Messiah. Thus, these two types of laws no longer need to be followed precisely, but the principles behind them should be honored and applied. This is what Jesus did when, for example, he healed a man on the Sabbath. The moral law, most Christians would agree, still requires obedience, and this is reflected by continued references to these standards in New Testament writings.

If one reads the whole Bible and doesnt add to or take away, one would see that we use the old and new hand in hand. I choose to eat kosher and keep the Sabbath(saturday) holy. I also dont celebrate man made holidays(christmas,easter,etc.). I am working on learning about the Lord's festivals, and I plan on keeping them like He asked us to. I try to do as Jesus did. I fail of course because I am not perfect. The old testament was never to be thrown out. There are reasons for people to be confused, I see your point everyday all around me, even in the church I go to. All that a follower of the Lord can do is do their own best to follow Him in the way they know He would want them to.

I really don't believe that you want an honest answer and if a legitimate answer is given you wouldn't adhere to it any way, so what is the point of answering your question when you are preaching yourself your own religion with your own excuses to not believe in the Word of God. You like to blame Christians wavering opinions on your hot topics but you really dont want to really look at the whole for the answer because you would not accept it if it was given to you. This sounds just like your argument.

Your line of questioning shows that you neither know the word of God or study it or believe it - have a good day!

OT = OLD Testament = Old covenant = "chosen" people
NT = NEW Testament = New covenant = Christ's followers

Why do you continue to seek confusion where there is none?

Thanks for the honorable mention. I, persoanlly do not eat pork or shrimp for the same reason. As amatter of fact, I am a veggie. the existence of shrimp and pork do not abominate God. The act of eating it does! do you understand now? its a metaphor for your concerns!
