With this amount in your system you need to talk to your doctor about detoxing from the xanax. Also you can call a local detox center and see who they suggest you call. Don't go cold turkey on your on as there are withdrawal effects from xanax. As far as other drugs that help you come down make sure you find out if these drugs are addicting also. You may want to go another route besides replacing one drug for another. Good luck.

I would definately recommend you start looking into herbal and holistic medicines to help you. Dr's sometimes want to keep you on prescription drugs because it make them money everytime you see the dr and go to the pharmacy.

I don't know why you need xanax, but have you ever concidered checking out what is causing you to need it? Instead of treating the symptom, why not treat the actual problem so you'll never need drugs anymore? It is definately possible!

I have been doing a lot of reading about health, nutrition and emotional well being. Our emotions tend to be the cause of a lot of problems and everybody's got those!

I really urge you to come off xanax as others may recommend but while you're doing this, start really looking into the root problems. I've been concidering going to a councelor, but after reading about RET (Rapid Eye Technology), I am going to try energy therapies, Emotional Freedom Techniques and psychotherapies to help me over come my issues.

Also, what we eat also causes side affects in our bodies. I hope you have time to check out the websites I have listed below and really see if you can find some truths for you in it.

I do know there are products out there that help me go to sleep. Its all natural and called Valerian Root. You can also buy it in a Stress formula at grocery stores in a brand called Stress Eaze which is also full of B vitamins which are good for stress.

I wish you the best! Good luck!

Methadone is to help you get off opiates. Xanax is not an opiate.
But you do need help in quitting. Do not stop abruptly... it could be fatal. Have a doctor assist you in tapering off, and perhaps changing to another benzodiazapine such as Klonopin... it will ease withdrawals, but has a longer half-life and less potential for abuse.
That much Xanax is definitely a problem and if you aren't having severe depression and psychosis, it's surprising!
Good luck!!

Methadone is mostly for opiate addiction, and it is much like "substituting drugs." Methadone is also highly addictive. The best thing you can do is enter medical detox, get clean and seek treatment. Alcohol and sedatives (like xanax and valium) are the 2 susbstances that need supervised detoxes to prevent death. Do not attempt to withdraw by yourself. BUT definitely think carefully about changing to Methadone- it is highly addictive and insidious!

That's way too much Xanax. The doctor who has prescribed all of it for you is now responsible for getting you off of it. Tell her/him that you want to stop taking it or at least lower your dosage to within normal levels. There is nothing that exists to help you "come off of it". You may even need to enter a treatment facility to help you "detox". It will probably take a long time to get off of it, as well. You will have to be weaned off of it slowly rather than "cold turkey". You should get yourself a good malpractice attorney.
