Then why is it that everytime I mention to them I'm atheist they look at me with horror and disgust? One of them asked me constant common questions on my atheism and treated me as if I was a stupid child (I was ironically older than her). Three others another time left and I haven't seen them since. Another one shook her head at me (that was my first experience).

Christians constantly try to shove their religion down my throat. (Sorry for using a clichéd phrase.) Telling me that I'm wrong and they're right and using no evidence to back up their claim.

My parents are Christian/Catholic. My mother treats me as if I'm going through a phase and will accept her god as truth when I have kids because then I'll see the "miracle of the Lord". Again, ironically, this "phase" has lasted all my life because I've NEVER turned to theism.

We're all born, by default, as agnostic atheists - with the lack of a belief in a god or gods. I still am atheist. I always will be.

27 August 1988, George Bush, "I don't know that atheists should be considered citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God."

85% of the USA are Christians. They voted and got THIS man as their president. Did you know an atheist can't hold office and it is extremely unlikely for an atheist in this country to become president? Does that sound fair to you?

Atheists are also looked down upon for no realistic reason.

From a telephone sampling of more than 2,000 households, university researchers found that Americans rate atheists below Muslims, recent immigrants, gays and lesbians and other minority groups in “sharing their vision of American society.”

Atheists are also the minority group most Americans are least willing to allow their children to marry.

Even though atheists are few in number, not formally organized and relatively hard to publicly identify, they are seen as a threat to the American way of life by a large portion of the American public. “Atheists, who account for about 3 percent of the U.S. population, offer a glaring exception to the rule of increasing social tolerance over the last 30 years,” says Penny Edgell, associate sociology professor and the study’s lead researcher.

BTW: Penny Edgell is incorrect here. Atheists do not account for 3% of the U.S. population - we are actually around 10%.

Actually I think you have it wrong. People hate/dislike some Christians and talk bad about your Lord, or believe he never existed.

True Christians are indeed wonderful people.

They're not the ones trying to force Christian laws to become national laws.

I'd be pleased to see any evidence that the lord loves us, or even exists. But, to quote the bible would be cheating, as it says this but is not independently established. Nor can it be, considering the vast number of errors it contains.

" ..for the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine...but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers telling them what they WANT to hear...." (2Tim.4:2)

" Now the Spirit speaks expressly that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils, speaking lies in hypocrisy..."(1Tim.4:1)
