I think there are probably a lot of answers to this question. However, I tutor a girl who sounds like you...and one of her problems is how hard she is on herself. This anxiety and pressure that she puts on herself leads to some performance problems when she takes tests, etc. because she's so worried. So, I'd say a good first step would be to take it easy on yourself. NOBODY is perfect. Nobody. There will always be someone who is better than you at something--and you will always be better than someone else at something. Everyone has his/her gifts and talents. Perhaps if you put a little less pressure on yourself, yours can come through more easily.
And, finally, if I may--high school was a long time ago for me, but looking back on everyone who got 90s and above in high school and looking on everyone who got 80s and 90s--there are just as many "successful" people as there aren't in both categories. Just do the best you can. Work hard. Honestly, I've worked with a lot of people--I will always hire the hard working "average " person over the person everything comes easily to. More character, better ethics, more life experience. Just a little wisdom from the ages. Hope it helps.

Some people retain information easier. Just make sure you are doing your part by taking notes, reading over your notes, and asking questions when you don't understand. If you have done all this, then you should be happy with the grades you are making. At some point, everyone finds out they are average in something. Another thing to remember is average is 79-70, and sounds like you are above that.

I do well in school, but sometimes there are a few classes that I get a B in. Not everyone is good at every subject. I'm great at English and History, so I excel in them. However, my Physics class is very hard for me, so I continue to get a B even with doing homework, studying, and getting help.
You really need to be motivated. As long as you try your best, there isn't much more you can do (unless you are in really hard classes and need to be lowered).

I think there's one relatively simple answer to your question: have passion. Sure, there are always people who have good study habits and get pretty good grades. If you want to make it much easier for you, develop some passion inside of you for academics if you haven't already. For example, instead of seeing math as annoying number-crunching, set goals to become a smarter, better, more educated problem-solver. Instead of thinking of English as fluff, think of it as a chance to learn to express yourself in the most efficient, clear, and elegant manner. If you have passion, you will have no choice but to work hard in your classes, and thus you'll receive excellent grades--not to mention your teachers will notice your enthusiasm and ability to work for your own education. That's the key. Forget about grades; if you want awards and recognition and a better brain, start evoking a little bit of passion inside of you! You'll thank yourself once you're older!

One word: Study. When your studying, make sure you dont have any distractions around you or it will be hard for you to improve. Make sure to take breaks. It will help you relax your brain. Remember that the secret is to study. Theres no other way to get good grades. Good Luck!

Sit up, pay attention in class. do your homework, don't forget to turn it in. Study the lessons like the teacher tells you to do. I did all that too and I was still only mediocre in school. I just couldn't retain stuff I wasn't interested in.
