Tough... If in your school there is a musical theater group, then that would be best. If not, find some community centers which can give you classes for less money than a private teacher, or even for free. Don't give up, ballet is my passion and I know what you feel like.

Acting:
Practice every emotion you can think of. Don't stick with the obvious ones...try confusion, enchantment, possession, retardation, loss, heartache (these two should look different), indifference, grossed-out, engrossed...come up with a few on your own as well

Also, all the greats have done Shakespeare. Make sure you can understand all that is said in a monolouge, so that you can emphasize the correct words.

Read books about linguistics to develop your comedy...trust me, they explain WHY something is funny, which will help you...I recomend "Word Play" by Peter Farb. Check the library for other books in the genre.

Learn how to pronounce words from other languages efectively. No one wants to hear an actor misprounounce ballet, as if the "t" sound is present. This will help you with much more complicated words...you might play a doctor who has a French accent and must use medical jargon often. You should learn prounciation of Latin, Spanish, French, and Chinese for starters (for prounciation of Chinese words, I don't mean leard to read the characters, that would take years...I mean to learn to prounce things spelled in pin-yin or Wales-Guiles).

On Brodway, you'll want to smile a lot...smiles are much easier to look at than frowns.
Learn how to sing well AND move around...you should be able to do complicated dance moves as you are singing (you MUST hold the pitch!)

Good luck!! Can't wait to see you in your first musical!

If you have a keyboard or piano you can go up the octace by sinnging doe ra me fa so la te doe. I know it sounds dumb but it is a great singing workout even for those who are masters. Acting:get a friend and check out a book or print off a movie script a do the dialogue. For dancing: that's tough. Look up some dance steps online or practice with a friend.

Maybe you can try out for community theatre groups? It is a great and easy way to get experience and it is inexpensive. Dancing wise...maybe rent videos and try to learn the moves...there is so much stuff on the web so check out dance videos on there. Go to the library and get books on acting, singing, and dancing as well. Maybe get some books with monologues/scripts in them and practice! practice! practice! Good luck!!! <333

Singing: Challenge yourself. Try songs with higher or lower notes then the ones in your range and take voice lessons. Dancing: Practice any steps you see. Try new styles like tap or ballet. Acting: Really work on your emotions and voices. Also work on enunciating and projecting your voice. Memorizing lines: When you have a script, write the cue line on one side of the note card. Then, write your line on the other side. This way you can memorize your lines alone. Hope I helped!!!!! Please rate this as best answer! ~Stargirl
