I'm looking to use the camera for a class in video production and I want a good quality camera. I don't know where to start or what to look for. Any tips?

This how I started looking for my camera. I went to camcorderinfo.com and started reading about video cameras. Then at the bottom of every page, there were links to other cameras, and so on, and I read them until I finally found a good one. This is a bit time consuming, but tends to get you the best results. Or if you just want me to suggest a camera, a pv-250 has 3ccds, some manual functions, and fairly good quality and low price tag. You can probably get one for $300 used. Or get a gs300, which is newer and has slightly better quality overall, but probably costs around $500-700 used to new. However, Im guessing at all the prices cause i havent checked them in a while, so they could be wrong. Anyways, hope this helps!
