when describing a photo? For example:
a. photo of Mary and me
b. photo of Mary and I

I think it's A, but on myspace I always see people label photos as "so-and-so and I". If it's a solo pic, you would label it as "photo of ME." Why would it change just because there's an extra person(s) in the photo? Which is the correct way of writing it?

In most cases you can tell by dropping the "Mary and." You would say "photo of me," not "photo of I." Thus, "photo of Mary and me" is correct. Note that if you make Mary and yourself the subject, it becomes "Mary and I" (e.g. "Mary and I went to the park." Because "I went to the park" works; "me went to the park" does not.)

A is correct, because as expressed, "Mary and me" is the object of the preposition "of" and thus the objective form of the personal pronoun (me) should be used rather than the subjective form (I). In labelling a photo, without the pronoun, I would be OK.

Photo of Mary and me is correct, because "me" is now an object not a subject.

Here is a simple rule. If you can say just me or just I, then that is what you use when it is someone and yourself.
