It is a narrow road that leads to eternal life. You won't get there trying to make it wider.

Funny that you say it has a negative base. I think it is based on God's recognition that man is fallen and needs to be saved. Christianity as Jesus taught it is concerned with what a person is. That is the condition of their heart, especially toward their fellow man. Most things we call sin are thus labeled because they harm someone or distance someone from God. Those are indeed negative. Too many people think Christianity is based on what one does. It is not. It is based on what one is. The good works one does are the natural result of taking on the nature of Jesus. None of us can do this to perfection. Most of us manage little better than a clumsy imitation of His character. If you haven't found any pleasure that is not sinful or wicked I am truly sorry for you. Keep looking. The problem with laws is that they are not good enough for God. They assume wickedness as a starting point. He will not settle for obedience to rules and codes. He wants us to develop Godly character. If we all did that, we would not need any laws. There is much to learn, more than one can learn in a lifetime I suppose. God is a shore-less ocean full of Joy.

Because it's easier to instill fear into people by saying that they'll be eternally damned than to make a secular law.
Creating 'laws' would mean that people are subject to judgment by other humans.
Religion uses sins, hell, etc to put fear in people---answering to a supposedly all-loving God (and maybe going to hell if you f'ed up) is a lot scarier.
It's sad that people need to be scared of a big man in the sky to be good people.

Because the human nature is the only negative aspect of the entire universe. And Bible openly speaks about it just as it is. Gospel is the way that shows how to turn negative aspects of our fallen human nature into positive, and what will follow if you fail.

Good argument. If there is a god, he has set us up to fail.
