You do not mention your age. Wife and I were protective while our 5 children were young,We both chastised them when they went against our house rules, detention within, etc. Today they are grown and have children of their own, and each one, says thank goodness we had parents who loved us, though we did not like it at the time, you kept us all out of trouble knowing what ppl to go with, yes we gave them lenience as they grew older, but again the watchful eye got bigger. No horn blowing in from of house for them to come out, nope, guy had to come in all the time. TADAY looking back, it worked out well and Now that they have kids, they do understand why

You can't always have things the way you want them, even when you are grown up. No harm will come to you because of being too careful or too strict. I know you feel like it's the end of the world if you can't do what you want; it's natural to feel that way at your age. This is why your parents are extra protective. They are concerned that you will do something on impulse, and later regret it.

How old are you? Either way, know that your parents are overprotective because they love you. It's a big ugly world out here.
