ABSOLUTELY unless they are perishable, like some dairy products or processed meats.
People today get carried away with expiration dates. In many cases the companies put dates on only because they are required to do so. And if you read the labels carefully many are "best buy" dates and not expiration dates. Most canned and packaged foods are safe almost indefinitely and of perfect quality for several years beyond the date. The only canned goods I know of that will deteriorate are the condensed milks. They get dark in color.
Things like cake mixes that have levening in them are still good long beyond the date. Trust me... I've used some that got buried in my cabinet!
Even most dairy products will last far longer than the date. Sour cream is the best example. It's already sour so what is everyone worried about? I often use it almost a month after the date. Cottage cheese also keeps quite long if you store it upside down in the refrigerator. Yogurt is good for around a month beyond the date.
When I was a kid my mom would clean out the refrigerator once a week to use up leftovers. In those days it was common to keep leftovers for a whole week and no one ever got sick.
It's only in recent years that canned and packaged foods have expiration dates. For generations we had no expiration dates (only codes that the manufacturers could decifer) and all survived quite nicely.
On discounted grocery stores... Absolutely! I love Aldi. Taste tests were recently done and the store brands won across the board. We tend to be food snobs but are simply paying for advertising the major companies do. There are only so many companies making food and much of what you buy under private label names is IDENTICAL to the major brand names. The same goes for clothing, luggage and just about everything else.

Depends on how out of date. Some dates are just to encourage you to buy the fresher version (like beer's "born on" date). Some with meats and fish really mean something - you might be able to vary by a day or two, but not much longer unless you refroze it. Check to see if it smells fresh or is rank.
As far as cans, if they have no hole in them, a DENTED can is okay to eat from - just probably got dented during shipping. A BULGING can, on the other hand (pushing out from the inside) should be immediately discarded - it may have poisonous botulism growing in there.
Some expired foods are just stale - crackers and such. Expired meats and such you need to be more careful and have less tolerance for going much past the expiration date with them.

Depends on how out of date, and how dented. I used to do salvage write-up in a warehouse. And I did'nt have to bring a lunch with me, if that tells you something. A small dent is ok. But a major jab dent can damage the protective lining inside the can. Actually they're not allowed to sell anything if it's not safe to eat.

I think that you aren't saving very much compared to in date fresh food. Why risk it? Just go for off brands to save money.
