Actually, they do. All of them were 14 at one time. But a 14-year-old has never been 34. The moms know what it is to be 14, and they know what it is to be adult. The mothers have the advantage here.
But no matter what, teens feel that their parents don't understand them. This is because teens are learning to think for themselves. But at 14 you are just starting to learn this, you are not as good at it as you will be some day.

Some mothers do understand 14 year olds! My mom understood me when I was 14 but I know those parents are few and far between. I think it has alot to do with how long ago the parent was the childs age. My mom was 20 when she had me and I think that had alot to do with it. I have friends and even my husband whos parents are much older and they never seemed to see eye to eye. I had my son when I was 25 I hope and pray we have a relationship like me and my mom had and not like my husband and his parents.
