I passed one and it felt like I was passing a grass burr the size of a football. Hurt! man oh man did it ever and all the way down to the very end of it. The Doc showed me one and it looked exactly like a grass burr. You will get a pressure like you need to go bad and hurt a little, then when that sucker starts down the tube refer back to the first sentence of this post. When you pass it, you are so weak from the pain you can hardly move.

I assume you know you have a kidney stone because a doctor verified it. It may pass on its own. In the meantime, drink, drink, drink lots of fluids to help flush it out. Take the pain medication the doctor ordered for you. He/she should have ordered something pretty strong, since kidney stone pain can be excruciating. Are you peeing into a cone strainer so you can see when the stone is passed?

If you have not seen a doctor, you should. If you have seen one and are waiting to see if the stone will pass on its own, be sure to call the doctor if you start running a fever, if your urine appears to be bloody or cloudy (infection), or if your pain increases and is not lessened by the pain medication.

Sometimes the stone will not pass on its own; in that case you'll need to have it removed. Your doctor can explain the various procedures to you. Good luck.

It may take a long time for it to pass. The pain is excruciating, you feel like you are giving birth. Don't be surprised if the pain stops and you feel just fine. All that means is that it has stopped traveling. It would be less painful if you went to a doctor and had tests run to see how large and how many you may have. He may be able to help you by crushing them so the passage is not as painful.

I had stones last Thanksgiving. NO fun !! I had lots of
vomiting and loose bowels for about 2 hours--and lots of
trips to barely pee. VERY painful. I don't know if it passed--
in the er they gave me some Demerol, an tordal--but only
after the pain stopped--then they sent me home---they sent
me home with a little screened cup to pee in for 3 days--I never passed anything---maybe when I was in so much pain--who
knows---??????????

I hear it is some of the worst physical pain a person can go thru. If you're already in pain and it's passing, then by all means get off the computer and get to a hospital.

It's going to hurt more. You shouldn't bleed when it passes--regardless of what the other post says. If you bleed, go to the doctor. Drink a lot of water to help flush it out. The pain is not worse or equal to childbirth, no matter what you hear. Trust me, childbirth is much worse.

Severe cramping probably, and it will pass when you pee. There will be bleeding with it probably, not severe. IF you get unable to pee, you need to go to an ER, the stone is blocking the tube, and you need medical help. Take care.

I've passed mine, and it did hurt, but you get over it...From what I understand, it's like giving birth.
