I think it is a good question but they withdrew it so I'll ask it.

Is it easier to have someone end a friendship/relationship with you by just cutting off all communication or is it better if they give you a reason.

I think it hurts more to have someone just stop calling you and talking to you and not give any reason. I've heard guys would rather chew their arm off than give a girl the real reason they want out. But if you don't tell us why we will drive ourselves crazy wondering what we did wrong when you could just tell us (as kindly as possible).

If we are high maintenance or irritating we're going to be the same way with the next guy we see unless we know we have issues we need to work on.

I am going through something like this now. He has not cut off all communication but won't talk about anything to do with us or how he feels about me. I would rather him tell me than guess why he calls and guess what things mean.

So guys just tell us---we can take it!

Most women are unable to take the viewpoint you are taking and refuse to see they may have a problem that will migrate with them to their next relationship. Simply considering that shows you're sensible enough to have that conversation. Let your male friend know this, that this is not a judgement on him but rather something you want to learn about you for you, and he has no reason to say no. Otherwise most cases a guy thinks why should I bother take time to explain a lost cause when she's only going to complain/shout/ignore etc. Good luck with it. You seem sensible so I'd say screw the guy it was probably something wrong with him. You'll be fine.
