is there a web site that I can go to that provides guidance to prepare a will and the needed documents for free? how binding would a self prepared will be?

A notarized, self-prepared will is as concrete as any document.

I own nothing,not even a car, rent one room.So I have no need for such a thing.I however would like a living will to tell my family what not to permit doctors to do to me in the event I could not speak for myself.I can not get that free,lawyers are very costly so I do not think so.

You may be able to download forms on line. Otherwise they can be purchased at an office supply store like Office Max.
