Exercise is very important to anxiety problems.
Aerobic activity breaks down the neuro-transmitters which build up to increase anxiety.
Also deep breathing and meditation, like focusing your awareness on your breath while repeating something a word or phrase which is soothing for you. Also try taking magnesium supplements.

If you feel an anxiety attack coming on, just close your eyes and take deep, calming breaths. Remind yourself that you've gone through this before, and that you can go through it again. Keep the knowledge that it's only your mind invoking this panic, and that nothing bad's going to actually happen to you. If it's really bad, I suggest taking a break from whatever it is that you're doing and talking to an understanding friend who can just listen to you rant through your attack.

Deep breathing exercises are most helpful for me. There is one called "The Velvet Breath" which becomes one continuous cycle of in to out without pausing to change direction at the end of a cycle.
Sit erect and breathe to the belly and let it fill from the bottom of your belly to the top of your lungs before exhaling through the mouth in the reverse order. In through the nose out through the mouth and feel the air as it changes temperature within your body in the transition.

yes there are some things you can do. the best thing to do is deep breathing. this makes your body calm down and relax. listen to nice calming cds when you are going to sleep. like for example cds that are like rainforest or thunderstorm or the beach type music. there are some deep breathing cds out there. but deep breathing by yourself is the best thing to do. oh chewing gum is also helpful it allows your mouth to relax and not tense up.
