I understand that many people feel we SHOULD worship him. And perhaps they're right. But that's not what I'm asking. I'm asking why God would care whether we worship him or not? Why would the Creator of everything that exists have a need for worship? Sure, he might want us to appreciate what he has given us. I can understand that. But I just can't understand why he would feel any need to have a bunch of human beings worshipping him. And then, to make it worse, a lot of folks believe that this God who wants to be worshipped will make us suffer in eternity in hell if we don't. That's REALLY bizarre, that being worshipped by a bunch of human beings is so important to him that he'll torture us in hell for all eternity if we don't do it.

I know this question has been asked here before, but there weren't many really good answers. Please don't just tell me I'm going to hell. Tell me why you think God would care whether or not we worship him.

I see your point.
I am a mom and I love my children, whom I created, with all my being, and I would do anything for them.
I certainly appreciate that they love me back and would hope that they feel they would do anything for me, but I don't require them to worship me. And I certainly wouldn't burn them alive if they didn't worship me.
It doesn't make a bit of sense.
Peace

God cares whether we worship Him NOT because He's insecure; but because He knows what the alternative means for us. Not worshipping Him is the greatest sin and is punishable by spiritual death (being cast into the lake of fire for all eternity)!
Why would He want that for His greatest creation... for His children?

We are His masterpiece, created for His pleasure. It breaks His heart every time we make decisions that lead to our destruction, but He has given us free will and can't override His own law. Ultimately, He wants us to love Him by choice, not out of religious obligation.

Honestly, He doesn't need us. If we don't praise Him, the very stones will cry out in our stead; but He doesn't want that either. He wants the love, honor, and respect that any parent would want of their child.

First of all, I think you need to understand the word, "worship," which means more than just bowing down before God. True worship is to be in complete obedience.
If you just go through the motions on Sundays, but don't worship Him in your heart, it's kind of like a dog that licks your hand, sits in your lap, does tricks, and fetches your slippers for you, then tears your house up when you're gone.

Also, God does NOT torture us; but He DOES allow us to be punished. The decision is ours. The resulting outcome is only a consequence of the choices we've made.

Again, we were created for the very purpose of pleasing (worshipping) Him and fellowshipping with Him as companions; so, I'll answer your question with a question:
What if you were an engineer, and the object you created didn't do what you designed it to do and practically turned against you?

Hope you get your answer.

GOD Bless!

The way I see it, it's not the worship that counts, but the understanding.

From a logical point of view, the only reason God would create humanity (assuming that humanity, or at least sentient life, is the end purpose of the universe) wuld be companionship. Now, if we assume the whole heaven and hell bit to be true (or at least an acceptance/rejection to heaven) then that means that what he needs is a certain standard of companionship. We can assume that God would be more interested in our minds. As such, understanding a fundamental truth like the existence of God would be a prerequisite of being intelligent enough to carry a conversation with God over tea and biscuits.

Have you ever read that god asked you pray him, otherwise he would punish you. That is totally wrong. See by meditation we make our health good and peace. And to improve our concentration well. Praying is one of the meditation.

When you are kid, your parents want to teach you to pray god. But they feel you won;t do it. So they just say god punish them those who didn't pray, just to make you pray god. And it is also a misunderstanding that some parents think that if no pray, god punish, coz they been brought up like that. Thay haven't thought about it, That's the reason, they would have teach you the same.

See, even if we didn't pray him, he won't think you are bad or something. But he don't wants us to make others trouble. Meditation gives you positive vibration, which is good. The negative vibrations make you to trouble others, So to avoide this, you have to meditate. That is the main purpose of praying and meditation. Still if you hear from your friends and parents that if you didn't pray, god would punish, that is wrong. God is not such a person.

I understand your question to the fullest. The reason being, I have asked the same question time and time again. I do not want my children to worship me. I am grateful that they respect me and I know that they love me. That more than fills the bill. So I believe that God would wish a similar relationship. If by chance I am wrong. Oh well. I suppose you and I and many more will be together. I think he neither wants or cares.

You don't have to rant and rave in a church to worship God. Praying and adoring and admiring Him are worshipping Him.

God is not going to be in Hell so He won't be there "torturing" anyone.

It seems that this god creature is so vain and vindictive that if you do not stroke it's ego by worshiping it in a highly proscribed manner, it tortures you for eternity in everlasting fire. Now that sounds like a highly disturbed creature that is hardly worthy of worship or respect.

According to the Christian religion God created all things and due to this he feels that we should give him thanks. According to many of the stories from the beginning of time, God is a jealous God and demanded due worship. But God also supposedly gave us the power of free will so if you really have those kinds of feelings then its your choice.

Its no longer that we could consistently worship him, we could consistently decide directly to worship HIM. Jesus gave His existence for you and me. He loves us unconditionally, we are made in His photograph. He gave us unfastened will, while we worship and compliment HIm we instruct our love in the direction of HIm. think of appropriate to the way you handle your individuals and relatives, in case you skipped over them might they think of you cared? might they care? i seem at it like this, all the features and features and personalities that we've are all from God, He has those comparable thoughts, He created us. He even despatched His in simple terms Son to die for us so we could desire to go into into Heaven, God is suited, the only way we could desire to be grow to be for a suited human to die for us to conceal our sins along with his blood. The Bible says in Hebrews that devoid of the laying off of blood their is not any remission for sins. So God gave His all, compliment God we are living in a rustic the place we are able to worship him, in middle jap countries its against the regulation to be a Christian, now that's frightening.
