I'm having all 4 removed, they are all going to require surgery since they are under the gums and are horizontal. Will I need any days off work? And how many should I take?

I had to do the same thing. Luckily the time I had my oral surgery was just before my college classes started and I had a couple of weeks.

But you will probably need to take a few days off in your situation, since it sounds like what I went through. First, you'll bleed for about 2 or 3 days unless you have complications (like I did--I bled for 7 days exactly). Then you have major swelling--lots of ice and chipmunk cheeks for a few days. It takes at least two weeks to yawn without pain.

I'm not gonna lie--it sucks! And the type you're talking about sounds just like my oral surgery. I'd schedule 3 or 4 days and take more as needed.

Good luck with your surgery and I hope you get over it quickly!

Take care,
R

If you get paid for the days off then take them, you are going to be high as a kite when they give you your pain medicine, I had all mine taken out and I went to work two days later, but I was in some pain still and should not have been working on those pillz. I have a pretty high tolerance for pain though, mine were already through the gums.

Yes, yes and yes. It hurts and you are swollen for a few days...especially since you are taking all 4 out. I would honestly take 3 to 4 days off. Not only so you can take the meds for pain but for the swelling to go down. You also have to rinse out your mouth constantly to ward off infection and you might be a drooler like I was when I had dental surgery on my eye teeth.

Good luck with it. Remember to ask for the good meds. ;)

Plan on the day of the surgery and at least the next day off. depending on how your pain tolerance is. If you know your a wimp plan on a couple more after that. personally I was eating the next day and didn't need any pain meds. I had it done on a Thursday and was definitely ready to go back by the next Monday. If you bleed alot or bruise easily may need an extra day off also depending on your job and who you come in contact with.

Take five, heck your getting paid for it. I had all 4 at once removed as well and only one was impacted. Sounds like your going to be in a bit of pain there buddy. Take 5 and rest up, you'll need it.

Yes you should take at least 3 days since you are probably going to be in pain plus your face is going to be seriously swollen. I would try to get them done over a long weekend around a holiday. Just a suggestion.

I would suggest at least 2 days since you're having all removed or maybe try to get it done on a Friday that way maybe you won't have to miss work.

You are going to need 1 or 2 days. When you go home pack your jaws with ice for a solid 8 hours, to prevent swelling and pain.

Definately. I had all four of mine taken out together, two of them were impacted as well. You'll be so sore, not to mention so full of narcotics, you wont even want to think about work for a few days. FMLA should cover your time off. Good luck.
