We just got a Pom, we live in Denver and the snow is higher than him. Trying to leash train him and housebreak him is a disaster. He comes inside soaking wet. Someone mentioned that a "puppy cut" is nice and short but I want to see what it looks like before I get one done to him :)

You may want to check out the AKC website and go to pomeranian. It will give you some other sites to visit. There are also many Breeders who show thier Poms and have great websites that may also give you some good info: Karizma Poms, Back Forty Poms, etc. Go to some of the better search engines like :Google or Alta Vista and just put in Pomeranian. You will be amazed at what you find. I am thinking that the puppy cut has to do with when they go through what Pom People call the "puppy uglies". They evidently blow thier coats and lose quite a bit of hair around 10 mos to 1 yr. I assume they are trimmed during this time to keep them as attractive as possible during this short phase.

On a final note, they are now allowing Poms to be trimmed in a soft "circle shape" type in the show ring. This makes them look more fluffy and "teddybearish". They trim around the face and keep it very round and shorter too. It does look very nice.

Good luck.

I never understand why people get long haired pups and then want to cut their hair. Just seems odd to me.
