Why is it some people don't believe that God exists and in his holy books (which were revealed a long time ago), and they say that these are fabricated and people just make it up, yet they believe in dinosaurs (which happened even longer ago), which could also be made up by people? I'm not saying I don't believe in them, but why do some people only believe in dinosaurs but not God? Couldn't God have made these dinosaurs?

The bones could also be fake, don't you ever think about that?

AND again let me repeat, I didn't say I don't believe dinosaurs existed.

photografr7 - God is everywhere. Just because you can't see God does not mean he isn't there. You can't see dreams but you know you have them. You can't see emotions but you know you get them.

First of all, what i'm talking about is the fact that for religion, the holy books are the proof, for dinosaurs, it's the bones. Both exist, so why only believe in dinosaurs?

And as for people dying in africa, all the hate and pain and so on is not God's fault. Like people have mentioned every day. everyone is given free will. If human being can help these dying people in africa why don't they? If I was to use your logic to say that God doesn't exist because this happens, I can also say humans don't exist because this happens.

Maybe cos with the Dinosaur stoies people can read & get on merrily with their life but with Bible stories they have to deal with commandments, sin & relationship with the book or God etc(too much commitment for some folk). They may also simply be uninterested in religious stuff. Hence they make excuses or just simply shy away from the heavy stuff. For these people its easier to swallow huge Dinosaur than digest the Bible.

I'm sure that someone will mention the glory of god or something but you can walk into virtually any natural history museum anywhere on the planet and there will most likely be at least one fossilized skeleton if not the actual skeleton of prehistoric animals that lived, walked and breathed 50-60 million years ago. Now I am not saying that these are genuine, maybe someone manufactured them in Hong Kong and went round the world burying them in quarries and swamps in virtually every corner of the planet.
Now compare that with the bible, there are absolutely no physical representations of anything that the bible claims as absolute truth other than what is written, (selectively) it seems, in the bible. Actual physical evidence is a bit thin on the ground and apart from testaments which it is claimed came from actual people everything has to be accepted as a matter of faith and given that the bible is a book which evolved over several centuries and was made up of gospels which were politically selected to further the legend of Jesus as the son of God. Any speculation which diminishes this assertion has been removed and because the power of the church is dependant upon a living Jesus that legend is jealously guarded. It is fair to say that until relatively recently christianity was enforced to the same extent as Islam in Islamic countries and in the U.S.A. the indoctrination of children into religious cults is alive and kicking. I don't remember who said it but someone said "give me a child age 4 and you have them for life" or something like that - the point is that if you are brought up being told that something exists and everyone of your peers, mother and father, go to church and listen without questioning - then you have no reason to doubt. It is only when you are taken out of that environment and question things that the discrepancies actually show.
I guess you can tell which side of the fence I am on and it is not my intention to influence you but to answer your question as I see it. I am sure that people will disagree with my view and accuse me of being cynical but I will point out that I am only cynical about the existance of a god - I have no doubts about the existance of dinosaurs!

If the bones/fossils are fake then we are in a lot of trouble because it means that there is no such thing as knowledge and we are adrift in a random and incomprehensible world. It means that science can teach us nothing because everything we think that we know is false. It means that there is no such thing as an epistemology of human knowledge.

Essentially, it would mean that anything fantasized or imagined was just as real, just as valid, and just as knowable as anything that we can actually see, hear, smell, taste, or feel (not to mention, observe, study, measure, and perform experiments on).

Specifically, we understand the geologic and taphonomic processes and relationships that produce, preserve, and expose the fossils we find. That is why we can use the presence of certain foraminifera to locate potential oil fields for exploration. Additionally, the biological, physical, and chemical processes allow us to identify fossil material independently of just its morphology and location.

We have developed confidence in this through repeated exploration and experiments over wide spatial areas and across great time spans that allow us to successfully PREDICT where we should find certain things and, similarly, where and why we should not in others.

Most importantly, these things all exist and happen outside of any bias that humans might bring to the task because of individual psychology, culture, religion, nationality, political preference, or whatever. Things, and the processes responsible, are the same for all investigators who honestly pursue such knowledge, properly follow the philosophy of science and properly apply the scientific method.

There are no instances where we have found anything that violates the fundamental principles that form the basis for our explanatory models. Historically, whenever aberrant examples seemed to exist (e.g. Piltdown man), they were either found to be intentional hoaxes or found to be legitimate upon the accumulation of more and better data.

The bible is a single record compiled and translated by people (they call it the ‘King James’ bible for good reason) who are no longer alive. Empirical scientific data abounds and continues to provide validating and new information and knowledge.

I would not presume to claim that the scientific method will always work, or be the best approach, to the acquisition of knowledge. However, I can confidently state that when properly followed and applied, it has never – not a single time – ever produced false results or failed.

The Bible says that God created the super sea monsters. those have been possibly the dinosaurs provided that they lived in or close to the water. Dinosaurs have no longer something to do with our salvation, in simple terms our interest. The Bible isn't a technology textbook. yet, while it does point out scientific concerns that's often suited suited even nonetheless the numerous books have been written hundreds of years in the past.

because i have never seen god's thigh bone.

EDIT:
if the holy books are proof, even as the bones are for the dinosaurs, then they should have NO ERRORS for god is perfect and cannot be described by an imperfect book. we KNOW for fact that every so called holy book has errors, therefore they cannot be conclusively pointing to GOD. Bones of dinos, even as our bones today, have elements that are the same in all of them. in this we can know that every bone is a bone and it points to an animal of some form. if our bones were as full of errors as the books (e.g. they were pink and squishy, or made of plastic, both characteristics that do NOT belong to bones) then we would deduce (logically) that they are not bones pointing to an animal that once lived.

Science answers alot of questions, bones and dna have proved dinosaurs have excisted and that through evolution and the odd near total wipeout we have got to where we are. this does not mean god does not excist, religon teaches a great deal about morales and beliefs on how we wish to treat each other and how we wish to be trated. It would be nice if everyone was more intrested in their own life instead of everyone elses, and we could learn to be stronger in ourselves and make our own mind up instead of so much outside input. If god works for you, then good luck to you and most of may god bless you. Happy new year and all the best, XXX.

well, one can dig up examples of dinosaurs...their fossilized bones anyhow. If there is evidence for something, then it is easier to believe in.
God could have made dinosaurs, there is no proof of this anywhere however.

If the bones were fake, then what would they be? Rocks? Part of a plot to fool paleontologists? Simply put it is easier to believe in the fossils then in an all powerful being who is unprovable

I think you should have a look at some dinosaur bones in a museum, they happened. Why do people think that God just didn't make dinosaurs too?

I wasn't having a go at you! I hate when people make others look stupid. I was just saying dinosaur bones are in museum's and I don't think anyone would bother making them up, that'd be a little bit silly! lol

The bible wasn't created by God it was created by people.

Did we all imagine the dinosaur fossils then?

Right...so the bones are fake but the book is real proof of god?! ok, I'm converted (not)!! This is a ridiculous argument if ever there was one!
