I work at a vet clinic, and all of the veterinarians i have worked with warn owners about certain things they give their dogs to chew on. They often times have to remove foreign bodies from their stomach and intestines because somethings cause blockages. NEVER give your dog real bones, when they chew on them pieces can splinter off and get ingested. Things like raw hides are okay, you just have to pay attention when they are chewing them. When the raw hide gets too soft they can chew off pieces of them and swallow them, and because they are not easily digested they can also potentially cause a blockage. So you just have to be around watching them when they chew on them. Cut off the end when it gets too soft, and throw it away when it gets too small (able to swallow). Good Things to give are stuffed animals, Kongs and other hard rubber that your dog can't chew pieces off. Something you can do that will keep your dog entertained is to fill a kong with treats or peanut butter. That way he can chew, and also get a little treat. i even know someone who will but peanut butter in the kong then freeze it, that way it will take them longer to chew and lick through. I'm sure there are other good things to give them that they can't chew through.

Other people gave some good sugestions but i would look at things like stuffed animals, and other chew toys at the store that aren't made from actuall bone. Go to a small real pet store and ask someone. They can give lots of advice or call your breeder. I used to give my puppy these carrot bones which are like pressed carrots and they come in all different sizes. Their is so many other options beside real bone that are great for your dog. As for treats you should give him fish treats with omega fatty acids in them to make his skin and furr silky and beautiful.

A white pigs ear would be best, because no flavorings or additives have been added, bones might be too hard for the puppy's teeth, so, be careful what you give her, those pup teeth are FRAGILE!
Good luck!

I have always given my dogs milk bones (they come in several sizes). The vets have always commented how nice their teeth look. You might want to try a rope bone or a small towel with a knot tied in it.

Never give a dog cooked bones. Raw ones are okay. And if you give a dog a raw marrow bone, the pup will chew on it for hours.

I would suggest something small and easy for his teeth and gums, those hard hard bones are not good on there teeth and gums. Why, cause I have seen for myself with my dog eating those and it causes his teeth and gums to bleed. Plus check with your vet. they know what is good for your puppy.
