...And food manufacturers won't even have to label that it's cloned!

I, personally, am disgusted and outraged that this is even a consideration. I disapprove of the entire idea but if it goes through I believe they should be required to label that it is a cloned product.

What are your thoughts?

IIRC, the idea wasn't to clone the entire animal (that's already been done) but to clone only the muscle tissue that people want to eat which technically wouldn't be cloning as much as just growing cells in a lab. The advantage there is that you don't have to feed (or clean up after) an animal, just provide the medium for the cells to grow and divide. Either way, it doesn't sound particularly appetizing to me and I imagine the result would be rather tasteless without the fat that provides moisture and flavor in the cattle that we eat today.

I agree. I can't believe they're considering not even putting labels on it. There will of course be people who eat meat, but are morally opposed to cloning! Lucky for me, I a vegitarian anyway - and after this I may cut out dairy too.

My jury is still out. I do however, believe if products from cloning are to be sold for consumption they should be labeled as such. Just like organic vs. non-organic.

I am seriously con=sidering becoming vegetarian and hopefully I will be able to afford all organic my favorite store is Whole Foods but around here we call it Whole Paycheck they are really NOT for ALL the people at all and I thought that the organic co-op folks would have had something to say about that but then all the people who can afford whole foods and organic foods exclusively are turning out to be snobs. . as with everything else the Boomer generation promised they have competely SOLD OUT...and the band played on

Yes they should. It's a stupid idea to even approve such an ideology. I really agree with you on the disgust part. By the way who would even think of having it.
