Besides the fact that they're more comfortable and you don't have to iron them, I personally don't care for them. They're not as durable as teh BDU/DCU. You can't sew them up easily. The zipper breaks and you're screwed. They're so light colored that they stick out in a wilderness environment. Velcro? How the hell is that tactical? My first day in the field with these I tore the arm because I caught the pen-sleeves when I took my ruck sack off. That and the crotches rip out very easily. I realize that it's a happy medium between urban and rural terrain patterns, But the marines look better than our blueish-grey suits. Any other opinions?

I remember when the BDU's first came out. (Yes, I'm an antique.) The collar was like a reject from the 70's leisure suits, the black part of the pattern faded to a navy blue, and the crotch in the pants was never deep enough.

It was through several complaints like yours that they did a redesign to accommodate what we griped about. They probably will stick with the camouflage color/pattern, but the other stuff might change if you send it up the line.

+ I think they are cold for this climate and we should use heavy BDU's here.

I also think that they should match camo to terrain. The Tiger Stripes work well in Nam, The BDU's in deciduous forest, Deserts in the Mid east. How about whites in snow?
Even the Navy has us beat. Are we not supposed to be the smart ones?

Agree 100% and they cost so much to replace. My little uniform allowance barely covers the cost of 1 set.

I love them! I don't have to iron, and I don't have to rush to wash, dry, starch, and iron them in one night, like I had to with the old BDU's.
