why do you find acceptable the excuse "dont say/show this or that over here because there may be children reading"???
Is that because you leave your children unattended in fron of the computer and give them the opportunity to look for anything they want on the internet???
Dont you sit with them to explain what they see and control that they dont see something unsuitable????
(You can be certain that if you leave your children alone in front of the computer they won´t be in THIS site)

I guess you watch your children 24/7 and know every move they make. But I don't have the time, energy, or desire to do that. That type of monitoring will only make them unable to fit in the real world. They do grow up you know.

Anyway I don't agree with that excuse. If a child is old enough to sit at the computer, come to this forum and understand what those things mean then I am sure that he or she hears the same things at school.

I honestly know that there are children who come here to talk about their religion. I don't have kids. The people who write these advisories, including atheistic me, are concerned about the children who ARE left unattended and find their way here, thinking that it will be as safe and secure a setting as their own church.

Adults argue a lot about religion, and that's okay for kids to know about. I don't want to overstimulate some pre-teen with someone's adolescent attempt to scandalize the conservative Christians on the board with shots of genitals and breasts.

Few children have the concept of looking for stuff on the internet; they usually get a parent or older sibling to do it for them. Children aren't going to go on the computer and type "porn" into Google - children don't have a sex drive!

Uhhh.. have you had children?
You can't be with them every moment every day, and being children they will pursue what they should not.
Unfortunately, irresponsible adults will place what will harm them where they can reach it.
Good parents have to battle the barrage of trash that comes at kids every day - why aren't you of the attitude that understands that?

Because it is obvious at times there ARE children on here. It does not mean they're mine! THAT's who I would be trying to protect.

This doesn't excuse unacceptable language or behavior on here. If I don't care to see it I surely don't want kids to see it. Lead by example.

The ending of your question is so true. For the Bible says the idle mind is the devils playground.

People should act decently regardless if children or women are present.

I monitor very closely the content my kids view on the internet and I also limit the time they spend on the internet as well.
