Why in the world would God care about sex during or around a woman's menstrual cycle?

Men get Urethritis --kinda painful from banging that time of month.

Many of the old Levitical Laws were simply HEALTH Directives.

There are certain health risk that can happen to a woman should she have repeated sex during her menstrual cycle.
Since they can not be seen without the aid of examination tools, and said tools were unavailable in ancient times, that is why it was a forbidden practice.
Also it gives both the opportunity to show respect for the blood issue.

Hey, the answer to your question is smth that is beyond spirituality. They needed to have those rules. Women were cared for. Why, wouldn't you like to have someone do your daily chores when you're in that period? A woman just couldn't work in those special days when she had her period.
You say - "Why would God care?" - I say - "God cares." Would anyone care if not out of love? And the hygiene rules from the Law are really good. I wish some were followed to this day.

In the bible it states many times that blood is sacred to God.

Bible prophets even compared the taking in of blood as bad as idol worship and fornication. (Acts 15:28,29)(Lev 17:10-16)
The bible also states what was considered clean to worship god.
(Lev 15:25-27)

So it was the contact with someone else's blood that made them unclean in the eyes of God.

Thus the contact between two people when one is menstruating was considered a no-no.

God is simply acknowledging that women need to be left alone and not messed with during that time of the month. He is telling men to leave her the heck alone. I don't know about you but in my case....leaving me alone is my husband's safest bet. If he messes with me things will get ugly. He's know better after 14 years of marriage but it took him a while to get it. Almost ran him over with the car once but he was too quick.

Wow...I don't think you should be questioning God's judgement. You're going straight to [well, you know where].

But in the islamic religion (hi, i'm muslim) we're not supposed to pray or do anything religious on our period because it's deemed unclean. And you know what they say, "Cleanliness is next to godliness."
Or, some people say it's because God wants to give us a break, since women get cramps and unbelievable pain when they're mestruating.

But why does God care? Only God knows the answer to that question. And hun, maybe you should be loyal to God, and don't question him, he's almighty God, he's more powerful than you are, and he'll send you to [well, you know where].

K? so bye.

Leviticus 18:19 Do not approach a woman to have sexual relations during the uncleanness of her monthly period.

We're dirty! Mwuahahahahah. It is that or they are intimidated by us.

Leviticus 15:19 When a woman has her regular flow of blood, the impurity of her monthly period will last seven days, and anyone who touches her will be unclean till evening.

20 Anything she lies on during her period will be unclean, and anything she sits on will be unclean. 21 Whoever touches her bed must wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will be unclean till evening. 22 Whoever touches anything she sits on must wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will be unclean till evening. 23 Whether it is the bed or anything she was sitting on, when anyone touches it, he will be unclean till evening.

24 If a man lies with her and her monthly flow touches him, he will be unclean for seven days; any bed he lies on will be unclean.

If you're referring to something written in the bible, remember that the bible was written by MEN. Human men. The same group of people that invented high-heeled shoes. They were probably frightened of the blood- unless they had figured out that right before (and sometimes during) the menstrual cycle is the best time to get pregnant.

huh?!?!?
are you questioning why in the Jewish tradition a woman has a mikvah????

let's look at the beginning of the cycle -- there were no tampons, pads or douches, showers or baths used daily.... the times were quite different. also the science of what was really happening was unknown as we know today. also - hhmmmm cramps - what do you take for yours?!?!? no aspirin, nuprin or midol back then ; )
