Hi there,

Well, America has more than one culture and religion---and by the way the largest Christian demonination is Protestant, not Catholic :)

In my neighborhood we have Catholics, Muslims, Jews, Lutherans and Anglicans, and one Pagan. Our ancestors came from Canada, Malta, Ireland, England, Pakistan, France, Germany, Italy, Morocco, and there's some Native Americans. (A couple of kids in the neighborhood asked around as part of a class project.)

So what is the "culture" of our neighborhood? We all like to watch our kids play together. We have cookouts and block parties---although we avoid doing parties when anyone has to fast LOL We all like to chat and hang out together and if the kids hadn't been doing an ancestry project we probably wouldn't have realized how different our backgrounds are.

Personally, of my 5 closest friends, only 2 share my religion and only one shares my ethnic background.

As for someone in Iraq right now---I would worry about them. I feel sad for all the people in Iraq. If one of my neighbors can be Muslim and the next is athiest and the one behind them is Jewish, why can't people who believe in almost exactly the same things get along????

Aren't all Muslims, Jews and Christians the biological and adopted children of Abraham? Aren't we all brothers?

My next door neighbor in college was Iranian and it upsets me when I see the news here stereotyping the people of Iran.

Best wishes in learning more about some of us in the US and I hope you'll be able to share something of your culture with the people here.

Peace.

PS Writing this and thinking about my Iranian neighbor has made me very hungry LOL She made the most amazing food. Maybe every country in the world should send representatives to a central location for a "pot luck" supper. How could anyone think of war with a belly full of bread, good stew and rice?

My Dad a Major is there, two of my nephews, 1 neice, 6 cousins. We are a military family. We love America, fight for Freedom, and Support All The Troops. We love God, Our Country, Freedom and the American way. We are Christians and worship Jesus Christ. All the above is our culture.

We are generally a secular country in actions and a mainstream protestant country in our words. I grew up catholic but NEITHER catholic nor jew comes close to outnumbering the collective protestant faith. Our way of life (capitalism) is based on the protestant work ethic.
I find it sad that the one country in the Middle East that has such a rich history (Iran) is at odds with us. Right now itis dafer for an American to be in Iran than ANYWHERE ELSE in the Middle East. The Saudis are supposed to be our friends, but the man in the streets of Riyadh hates us. This is sadly ironic.

We don't have a religion we are free to worship whatever or whoever we want or not to worship we have freedom of all kinds
We are a tolerant and peace loving country
Not pretend tolerant peace loving as the Nazislamic Fascist and Followers of Islam and Muslims
We however hate Iraqi's for being cowardly and not protecting their own country from the Nazislamic fascist

The american culture is very racist. If you are not white they think they are better than you and will talk behind your back. If a non-white person gets killed no one cares but when a little white girl gets lost on a camping trip it makes headline news for weeks.

PERSIA. Why is your presitent so pissed off. When will you uprise and have a revolution? Why does your president insult our country? He needs to concentrate on making life better for Iranians istead of mocking us. Keep asking yahoo questions.
