I LOVE my shirt haired chihuahua, we live in a smaller 2bdrm apartment and he is toally happy indoors so much so he tries to get back in when I take him out lol, he is very playful, low maintenance for grooming BUT very high strung and possoesive so hopefully you have alot of energy for these little clowns and they make great only dogs, only thing I have found out from personal experience they are not good around small children because hey are so fragile mine is a lap dog too

Try some breed selectors.
Once you find some breeder you are interested in contact the breed club where they usually have breeder referals.
Here is the one for the min pin.

You should also consider an adult dog from a breed rescue. There is a good chance it will be housebroken and much easier for you to care for. The breed club sites also have breed rescue links.
Try www.petfinder.com

Min Pins are very hyper so be cautious of that breed in an appartment all day. How about a pug, a Bichon, Pomeranian,Shitsue, Peekanese, or a little French bulldog?

I saw a Rottweiler / Dachshund mix named Squirt at the shelter who was a GREAT dog - the guy had a big rock-star personality in a little package - check out a shelter and ask them to help you pick a good match for you. Too many dogs are destroyed every day...

doxie! theyre perfect for small places and have short hair, well, if you get a short haired one. people say theyre not exactly fast learners, but mine was and shes very good. except in the house breaking area, but thats my fault.
they are also REALLY great with kids and are so small they use up all their energy inside the house so they usually never need walks. but one would never hurt once spring rolls around.
dogpatchpets.com they are a great, i got my little doxie from there. they update it every day and take them outside and take great care of them. although i dont know if its an international thing or just that one store. anyway... good luck.

I think a beagal sounds like a good dog for you, but if you would like to go up a size i totally suggest a FEMALE boxer the females are smaller than males but they need exersise..atleast 1 walk a day and losts of TOYS!

A good dog breed is a dauchsaund! I used to have one and he was perfect. They are so nice and I walked him about every day, most of them have short hair. They are also pretty playful!

Well i was looking for a Pomeranian breeder and i found one and he/she does min pins too.she seems okay because she wants you to return the dogs if you can't keep them so that shows that she/he cares for the dogs. Also i liked how they didn't mention anything about t cup sizes because those are bad breeders. ummm animal planet.com has a breed selector test you can take! hope i helped!

I have a Shiba Inu and they only get to be about 20 or 30 lbs at most and 20 inches at most. They can be a little stubborn but their cuteness makes up for it all

Chihuahuas are the best! Believe me, I have owned many, and will always have these tiny dogs in my life! Min Pins are good dogs but so hyper. Apartment living would not be good for them. they need lots of exercise. I raise chihuahuas.
